Tomorrow....

That engine I was talking about is a no go, a lot of things just dont add up with it.

I'm currently in talks with Perrymoo, he's sent me some dyno readouts of engines they've built:

I'll rehost the graphs later

Look at the area under the curves, I think I've just found my engine builder.....

Im moving a lot closer to where they are based, and the dyno curves look superb for a road car/track machine. Will be interesting to see what sort of prices you pay for those type of results

I haven't followed all of this thread but basically is it just mismatched components that you've got Ben? Would it not be easy just to swap the cams/manifold for proper matched ones and leave it at that or is it more complex?

Yep, that's pretty much it.

Yeah, I could do that, but with a standard compression B20 bottom end you will only get around 210bhp anyway (but with better low and mid torque than a stock ITR). So I have decided to say **** it and do it all again properly.

What do you need to do the B20 properly and what sort of prices are we talking?
*Hides wallet from himself*

To get really good results from a B20 you need to get it built with high compression pistons, and if you want it to rev like a B18 you need to get the bottom end braced etc, as the B20 isn't made for revs. Also, the B20 has thinner cylinder wall than the B18, they are prone to cracking.

Overall, the more I look into it, the more I think that a built B18 makes more sense than a built B20.

Isn't 210BHP in something lightweight like the Teg not enough?

I think I'd be happy enough with that sort of power considering you've already got the suspension/brakes/wheels etc.

I think some repressed part of Drexels brain has just snapped, just go with the flow, its making for interesting reading.

I can't help myself :(

Realistically speaking 210bhp is plenty in a FWD car that weighs just over a ton.

But when have I ever been sensible :o

^ Can someone explain what just happened here?

I think I've about worked it out. Psycrow must be right.

DreXeL knows that 210 horsies would be plenty. The rational part of his brain fully understands this fact. The part of his brain that led to the purchase of the RX-7 that he used to own, however....that's a different story. That part of his brain is leading to naughty thoughts about getting some serious power.

^ ^ ^
I agree!

I've been privileged enough to drive a teg type-r and it could definately do with a bit more power - in fact it deserves it! :) It'll happily cope i'm sure.

Go for it DreXeL.

190ish IIRC.

To be honest I was doubtful of 240hp after the last RR day when we all drove quickly to the pub.

No m8, I was thinking of my license more than anything and was trying to keep it under a ton ;)

But I kinda knew it hadn't yet reach its full potential at the time & thought an S300 would release a lot more. That's been proved wrong now :(
