I'm looking into getting a steering wheel, a mate has recommended the Saitek R440. I have a budget of about £45. What do you have/recommend?

I'm using my gamepad but feel having pedals will be better as with the joypad it either full brake/accelerate or not at all, which means skidding and wheel spining and doesn't control the cars well and I hate using the analogue sticks.

i have r440, very good wheel but lacks buttoms, i thought 4 would be enuff but everytime i play i wish it had more

Logitech G25, and it is utterly awesome! Try it with GTR2!

Remeber. Quality is remembered, long after the price is forgotten!

an old Microsoft FF Wheel and pedals, must be 8-10yrs old and still works as good as when i bought it for £75.... sturdy , responsive and rugged feedback... if it broke i'd buy another straight away

Ive never used a steering wheel, do you use the clutch with them ?, as im wondering could you improve your RL gear shifting with it,

Hi guys, i have a r440 wheel and it performs very well even with vista, for the money i would be surprised if there is a better wheel (about the fifty quid mark) i am thinking of upgrading to a G25 but would like to hear from someone who has actually used both wheels ! been very happy with my r440 and is great with gtr2 gtl grand prix 4 etc, but i love the look of the G25 and relish the challenge of a clutch pedal, so how good is the G25 anyone played with both?

Mate, it doesn't even compare! while the R440 is very good, the G25 is the most awsomeness piece of kit ever! It's just so realistic!!

Hi robgmun, is it smooth to steer with? have read some threads that say the h pattern gearshift is a bit flimsy ?

His budget is £45, i fail to see how suggesting a G25 is a viable option for him? It costs three times the price!

I would say though, save up an extra £15 and get a driving force pro. I have one and its utterly fantastic for £60. I'm sure the G25 is leaps and bounds ahead of it but... just can't justify just short of the price of a xbox360 for a wheel.

gtr2, gtlegends are really good games just spent the last couple of weeks on gtl and you have to drive the cars

thats why i said for the fifty quid mark the r440 was the best wheel imo
