bios only see 137gig help please

Hi there a freind gave me a hdrive sata2.I pluged it in on vista and vista only sees that amount how can i get the full 250 gigs from it.do i need something from the samsung site to reset it back :confused:

Can you post a screen shot of Disk Management to let us see what it's saying - use something like Imageshack if you don't have any hosting of your own.

It certainly sounds like the drive has been partitioned on a plain XP install that doesn't support 48bit LBA for large disks. Vista supports large disks out of the box and I'm guessing your motherboard is the same on the basis that anything that doesn't support 48bit LBA is unlikely to be capable of running Vista.

unless there's some super strange issue with your sata driver. should not be the case
