360 or PS3!?

If you can hear your 360 while playing a game you don't have you speaker's volume up higher enough. :D Or you have crap speakers. hehe.

To be honest I do hear my 360 but once I'm into what I'm doing I don't notice it.

Server wise (ala Warhawk) it's good, but the lack of communication online is a real thumbs down for me, it just feels like playing single player. I do have a headset but the people who use them are rare.

Another thing that annoys me about the Playstation 3 and headsets is that the quality of peoples headsets differs so much, they should really have bundled a headset with the console so everybody has the same quality, it's so hard to hear some people on Warhawk at times. (2/10 times you find somebody with a microphone)

I agree it's definately got room for improvement, But to say it's crap, Is just wrong. It's a good service, it's a free service, and it's an ever improving service. :)

My first PS3 is super silent, however I have just bought a second and I can hear the fan whirring (almost ticking) away. It's way louder, so If that's the norm now or it has a bit of a dodgy fan I don't know.

Lol my PS3 is audible, not with my speakers on though, however my 360 is always audible, considerably. Just that damn DVD drive. (Benq, obviously they aren't really quieter)

I think this is louder than my Halo 3 360 I had back in December, could be wrong though, still over twice as loud as the Playstation that's for sure!

Indeed, I'm sure Home will improve it a fair bit though I think the lack of voice is going to be around for a good while. :(

Well my 3-4 week old 40gb PS3 is practically silent, even at night you pretty much have to put your ear to it too hear it, the only time I'll here it is in the dead of night when every single thing is off in my room apart from the PS3, then I'll hear a very slight whirring of the fan.

I like the fact the powerpack is built into the ps3 and not a brick along side it, happy with mine atm going to pre order GTA i think, in regards to noise ive never heard my PS3 yet can't believe how quiet it is.

PS3 is the better long term investment no question, just look at the features, games coming out, free online service, reliability etc.

Owning both I wouldn't do without either - only point that hasn't been mentioned (I dont think) for a prospective new buyer on a budget is cost of games.

Due to the 360 being out longer you can pick up some absolutely classic games for next to nothing (well, not quite, but 2 for £20 and that sort of thing).

To keep things even I will add that my PS3 is completely silent :)

Yep my older one is like that, but this new one is audible from 6ft away, the fan isn't just 'humming' slightly it's actually 'ticking/clicking' aswell. Think I'm going to take it back...

Seriously, this question has been asked 1 million times in the forum.

Answer really is:

Do you care about blueray?

Online gaming your main thing (360's is better even though you have to pay, and I own both consoles BTW)

Which games do you prefer now

Which has games you prefer in the future

One possible reason for 360 now, more games available right this second, and the console is very cheap.

true

I own a PS3 and my Dad owns a 360.

I'd go for the PS3 even though I will admit at the minute the 360 has a better games catalogue but...

Mass effect (soon to be), Gears of War and Bioshock are available for the PC which are the main games I'd want for the 360. The only game that I play on my Dad's 360 is Forza 2 and it is brilliant.

In the PS3's favour - Free internet, practically silent, better for media sharing, Blu-Ray.

Both games have good upcoming exclusives but out of the ones you've listed that you're interested in then the PS3 wins hands down

FFXIII + MGS4 vs GOW2 is practically a landslide:p

Horses for courses , I'd say that NG2 + GOW2 Vs FFXII + MGS4 is an even bigger landslide :)

I'm struggling with this decision for the future as well. It's seriously difficult to chose. PS3 is attracting me because I love the Grand Turismo series but then I think; what other games will I buy on it?

Wipeout definitely, I'd like to play motorstorm as well...oh dear, now I appear to be stuck! I don't play FPS on consoles and honest to god never will, yet a lot of the big attractions seem to be it now...

I loved and adored FF 4-8 and 10 (9 was awful!), but 11 is just trash, I can't stand the new modern battle system, so that series has gone off the boil for me.

I do like my platformers though so Rachet and Clank and Jak and Daxter are both fairly interesting.

MGS...hmm. I sort of like it, wouldn't pay full price for it, though.

On the 360 however, there still isn't many games I want, PGR and Forza definitely, but then I'm stuck again. Gears + Halo bear no interest to me (Halo in particualr, I find the game dull and massively overated).

Looks like I just made my mind up! haha

Exactly, this is what makes things interesting.

Personally I preferred Uncharted to GOW so I am much more excited about a sequel to that than GOW2

Online on the PS3 is perfectly OK if the game has implemented it properly, however, some games lack friend invite options, which is extremely annoying. Persoanlly, I dont see Xbox Live as the one thing that should but you off the PS3s online capabilities.

Games wise, it sdeends on what you want to play. The PS3 I find has better racing games on the way (Ferrari Challenge, GT5, Motorstorm 1/2, Formula 1) and it had much better adventure games in the way of the likes of Uncharted. However, the majority of games are now coming out on both consoles (or the better titles are anyways), so have a allok at the exlusives of what are coming adn what is out and make a decision from that IMO.

Blu rays are good, but at the moment most of them are just ports from DVD to accomodate HD, and whilst they do look better, they do not look amazing, so until more proper blu rays come out I would worry too much about that.

Over the last few weeks, my 360 has notbeen switched on at all, whereas thePS3 has been used daily, main reason, the 360 has had a relatively poor games line up over the last couple of months, and it looks to remain that way for a while yet, but the 360 has a much better back catalogue for you to do sinec you probably havent played them.

im on my ps3 all the time playing games or watching dvd`s/blu-ray and ive not once heard it get anywhere near the noise lvl of my 360.

I just ordered a PS3 today (£265 with a game) after owning a 360 since launch. The 360 was great for online play and I prefer the 360 controller but the PS3 is the future and the BlueRay drive is a bonus.

I have both, here's what I love and hate about both of them.

PS3 Loves: I absolutely love its build quality, free online play, blu-ray player, media center abilities.

PS3 hates: The PSN store is not the best, in comparison to the 360 it lacks any real playable games, no component or HDMI bundled in for free.

==============

360 Loves: I love the XBLA games, the controller, free quality component lead. Some really good exclusives.

360 Hates: Now where do I start? Build quality is equiv to that of a cheap Chinese toy. The heat and DVD spin noise is unbearable for me to the point that I no longer bother with retail games, only XBLA. If you have a taste for quality then steer well clear of the 360 as it'll annoy the ***** out of you!
