Hello all... ( i bet i get something like 1 reply )

im wondering, im getting a 30" 3007WFP Dell to run with my 3870x2 and i was wondering, has the HDCP over Dual Link DVI been fixed? i had an 8800 card and that didnt play anythign.

so. can your 3870x2 do HDCP content (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray) over Dual Link DVI?

Thanks for any info

Can't answer you for certain, merely reaffirm that there's no explicit reason (in the specs) why it shouldn't.

30" native res is 2560x1600 anyway so it'll be resampled either way. Surely a 20" (1680x1080) would be ideal? (or failing that a suitable television)

im still going to get my dell 30" but i'll NOT get a blu-ray player and stick to my ps3 on the projector. but was interested to know because i tried this with the hd-dvd addon for the 360 and it wouldnt work over dual link dvi.

the ideal screen is the resolution i have now 1920x1200 which displays 1920x1080p content fantastically.

i want the extra res for desktop use but i was just curious. i may be able to tell you all if i can get my hands on a cheap hd-dvd player or something just to test it on.

im one lol.

3007, but cant say about the op's questions sorry :(

Love it though, the real estate is worth it. and the games i play run fine at native res. also scaled at 1920x1200 dont look too bad, the 3008 is supposed to be even better :D

how many owners with a 30" Dell full stop?!

not many to be honest. but i know 3 of my mates have one so its not that rare... but finding someone with all 3 things i need is... 2 of them have 30" with 3870x2's but no hd-dvd or blu-ray drives :(

SOMEONE must know!

24" can do HDCP as far as I am aware.

So can the 30", but when using a dual link DVI cable and a nVidia card a bug stops HDCP working past 1280*800. (sorry OP but not tried it with a ATI card)

I found a single link cable HDCP works right up to 1900*1200. I would look to get the 3008 instead of the 3007 as it has more than 1 input - connect the main output via a dual link cable and a HDMI cable at 1080p.

I had to use my 3007 with my 8600GTS in my HTPC when my TV was in for repair; at normal viewing distance it look great, even though the monitor was scaling the picture.

You'll find quit a few of us 30" Dell users lurking, they're not *that* uncommon. As to HDCP, I have no idea, I bought my 3007's for gaming and Design work.

EDIT: What would I need to test, As i'm currently running a 3870x2 on one of mine.

youd need a blu-ray or hd-dvd player to play some content protected dvd's and see if it works.

well the 3008wfp was WAY out of my budget being a whole £300 more than the 3007wfp i got so i'm sticking with this.

i've bought a blu-ray player of my own but wont be able to test it till i get my screen but i'll post back my findings so if anyone was thinking of it can know it works
