2008 Bahrain GP - Race 3/18

Personally think Hargreaves needs to come on for Scholes and push Carrick forward a little (or maybe Anderson, but think he may need a little rest)

Maybe Park for Giggs as well

We cant afford to drop points and at the moment it doesnt look good (after a great opening 15-20 minutes
K thx.

Yeah, Giggs was understeering like a bitch last time out, get him off the track I say.

Who was Hargreaves driving for? ;)

Well that's that then. Another one for the Bahrain scrap book...

So unless we get proof that Alonso did a Dick Dastardly on Penelope Hamilton I'll be waiting for rpstewart to open up a new thread in two and a bit weeks time. Where no doubt I'll have more Heidfeld love, Massa bashing, sneering at the McLaren duo and cheering on Kimi to share with you all. ;)

Another fairly dull race, yay, hopefully the aero rules for next year actually make a difference :p

The Alonso/Hamilton bit did seem a bit suspect, but we'll never know I guess

Massa managing not to throw it into the nearest wall, amazing!

Good job by the BMW drivers, nice solid and consistently quick race, hopefully they can keep that up and mclaren can catch back up a bit to make it a nice 3-way (team wise) race for the rest of the year :)

Well, hopefully that'll keep a few people off Massa's back for a little while. Last year his win in Bahrain was the start of a hat-trick of wins - what price a repeat? Hope Hamilton bounces back from this quickly though. And I realise that'll shock some of you on here, but like I've always said - I don't mind Hamilton, it's his god-damned fan club I can't stand :)

DC - is it not time someone took him to task properly for not looking in his mirrors? Alright, so Button wasn't alongside when he turned in - but he still knew that Button was going to end up where he did. And if he didn't know that, then it's time he got out of this game.

Alonso vs. Hamilton. Hmmmm. This might just be cynical little me, but I'd love to see the telemetry from that. I wonder if he didn't get on the loud pedal as quickly as he could have....

The BMW boys - damned good run, that. They had nothing for the Ferraris, but that was expected really. I don't think Hamilton would have been comfortably ahead of either of them even without his poor start and subsequent contact with Alonso.

Oh, and a quick tweak - now do you all believe me that the rules need a good long look at to sort out the racing aspect? ;)

Exactly! The same kind of thing happened with Massa and DC in Australia...
I think its time for DC to take his superlicense test again...

Looking at the slow motion replay (Sky+ :D) Hamilton got better traction out of the corner and was gaining on Alonso at steady but fast rate, I dont think Alonso deliberately lifted and if he did.... Hamilton was gaining on him but still had time to react... I personally think Hamilton was still napping from when the race started.
I hate Alonso's guts, but I'm sure he was grinning in his cockpit after that incident.[/quote]

Bang on.

I'm not a Hamilton fanboy (though I like to see him do well as I would any other British driver) but that incident with Alonso looked far from a random racing incident to me.

Didn't watch the race, but i've seen the incident in question and would have to agree.

Unfortunately it sounds as though the return of good racing will se a downturn in looks for the new cars. They will have low wide and deep front wings with standardised middles (meaning no more funky noses), much shorter and higher rear wings, and absolutely nothing to do with aerodynamics allong the side of the cars... They are going to be proper ugly.

As for Mr Alonso, He has managed to go from the angel of F1 beating Schumacher and drving like a god, to be the most hated guy in F1 by fans, drivers, teams and generally the whole circus.

Im still unsure about the Alonso / Hamilton thing. From a brief couple of replays on ITV coverage, it looks like Hamilton just gets better traction out of the corner and catches himself out.
