Cloverfield

Saw this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Take it for what it is rather than dying to find out about the background etc. and you may be able to relax enough to enjoy any remaining mystery that the film has.

And to those who complained of motion sickness...don't be gay!

I re-watched it again on friday..

Skipped first like 18 minutes as it was pretty boring, was fun having a few friends round though

though the idea was ok, but did not like it... seemed very pointless no real story was told... cba looking on the net for a backstory, if they is one should have been in the film

I really loved this film, maybe it's because I haven't seen a monster film in a while but it was crazy and very entertaining. It seems to be one of those films that people love or hate.

It's also nice to sit through a film that isn't more than 2 hours long for a change. I didn't really see much of the hype beforehand and so my expectations weren't that high but it's such a cool movie :)

I'd be tempted to see if it could be made into better movie if replaced by TV camera crew doing a spot rather than drunk retard with handy cam affrair. As it is Cloverfield is motion sickness inducing product of the divx cam era with no visual qualities justifying purchase of DVD, let alone hi def version and set of relatively unlikable characters, the ever so slightly retarded cameraman Hud, his "I'm better than this" emo shag interest of the night, the "I'll sacrifice all of you for my ex girfriend" leading man and his dumb and whiney ex girfriend (who tf brings new boyfriend to farewell party of the old boyfriend - for that alone she ought to end up blown by spider byte, really). Then we have the galore of cliche's - any battery found while looting your local Curry's will fit your phone and be charged, batteries in handy cams last forever, especially if you run in tunnels with light on, running while screaming can cure any pierced lung etc, etc.

Overall 4 out of 10. Especially for making me feel like I paid £20 plus popcorn for night out with CAM warez release.

When my mate first acquired this film it took the 4th attempt before he realised thats how it was shot :)
I didn't know anything about the film and he kept saying he couldn't get a good one because it was shaking all over the place and it was the worst cam he'd seen.

i saw it last night. initially, i almost walked out of the cinema, as nothing grabbed me. but when all hell breaks loose it gets very interesting. my favorite 2 parts of the film are..

spoiler.
when the four of the guys/girls are running down the street then a rocket go's whizzing past their head toward the creature, you dont actually see iT because loads of troops and tanks go past, firing all their weapons and the characters cant get their heads up because of all the firing, at this point did i realise the sound was immense, it felt as though i was in a battefield!

also, when they are in the helicopter trying to escape, and the B-2 bomber flies over head and carpet bombs the creature, and the guy is shouting and cheering because they hit it (i was aswell, obviously not shouting it out in the cinema though) and from nowhere it jumps through the cloud and nails the heli, and the guy is praying to god that they don't die when it is falling through the sky (ive never panicked in a film before like i have watching that part lol)

overall i give it 9/10

Exactly what I thought. I was tensed up on *** edge of my seat, clenching my fist, ducking for cover, and cheering at certain parts.

Sooo many people go on about the inconsistencies and the film not rounding off giving you all the answers. If you want that then go watch something like pulp fiction or layer cake.

Saw it last night, pretty good, but nothing too amazing. There is no way the Monster can take that many missiles and bombs and not be completely destroyed to a point of crippled.

6.5/10

I look forward to the second film slated for 2009, will be interesting to see if they do a sequel or another point of view during the events of the first film.

I'd heard it will be another point of view of the first films events. Also, the bridge scene from the first film is a crossover scene that will also appear in the second, obviously this time from the perspective of the people in the sequel.

As with any rumour, I'd take it with a pinch of salt until something more concrete comes out regarding the sequel.

Are you an expert on what monster's can and can't do then? :D

According to some backstory on IMDB the monster came out of the depths (near the core) so had a natural resistance to heat (most weapons fired would give off heat)

Hence the women exploded when she got bitten, her temperature grew to that of the creater (or mini ones)

IMDB has a lot of information regarding these kinds of topics!:D
