EA announces UK Release Date for Rock Band - Timed Exclusive for Xbox 360!

Reading the rockband site, people are saying it does for the 360. That might be mis-information though.

Rockband is getting lots of love on its forum :D

Yeah, I own a PS3, I feel royally shafted. I'd probably stump up the cash for the game + drums, but i'm buggered as my damn GH3 controller won't work. Screw that instrument package price. I'm so ****** off.

If retailers have the guts to sell at a decent amount less than RRP, I can't see it going any lower than £149.99 total...

No swearing

Just to confirm (on an email list with their community manager), the pricing stated on Eurogamer is correct. They are writing an official statement for their forums now I beleive.

Software will retail for €69.99 or £49.99

An instrument edition, featuring one guitar, drums and microphone will be available for €169.99 or £129.99 (software is not included)

Stand-alone wireless guitars will be available for €79.99 or £59.99 (software is not included)

Stand-alone drums will be available for €89.99 or £69.99 (software is not included)

If my two 360 guitars will work then id consider just getting the drums and game seperately as im not fussed about the mic. Im sure that much like seperate GH guitars getting hold of the drums on their own wont be easy.

Thats what I will do and hope the pad works as a make shift drum until the instrument pack comes way down in price.

I've pre-ordered the solus for £37 minus quidco but i'm sure I will be able to shave another £7 off that before launch.

Lies. Trust me!

Well we were wrong to trust you, 130 quid for the instruments ( no game ) plus 50 quid for the game.

Grand Total £180

Anyone that buys this is a fool and is supporting EA in ripping off the consumer.

Thank god I ain't interested ...... GTA4 and MGS4 will do for me.

Kotaku summed it up quite nicely

When Rock Band was released in the US, it cost $169, and came with the game, guitar, microphone and drums. Not a bad deal. But in Europe, on May 23? Good heavens. The game won't come in a single bundle. Instead, there's two products available at lauch. One is called the "Instrument Edition", which costs £130/€170. It comes with a guitar, drums, and mic. That's it. No game. No, if you want the game as well, it'll cost you another £50/€70. That brings the cost of the game and three instruments to £180/€240. Or, USD$378. Three hundred and seventy-eight dollars. I know, things are always more expensive in Europe, but...damn. Whether it's MTV or EA behind this price, you can take that price, and you can stick it up your arse.

I was thinking only the other day, it would be nice if it was about £85

But regardless it *Should* be at the highest £99.99 in my opinion.

Im sure i also saw somewhere that the songs will be 160 star bucks instead of the 80 star bucks they cost in the US? Im not in with the MS point thing but is it a like for like thing ie 400 US points cost $5 does 400 UK points cost about £2.50?

160 MSPs

$2.00
£1.36

BTW I am speaking to someone who owns a PS3 and rock band and he says the songs cost 160MSPs on the US marketplace. Only some songs are 80 points.

Cheers just found that out too, oh well only costing 30% ish more than the US (at current exchange rate) better than the near 100% markup for the whole game.

You can't use the pad for drums or guitar. At least not in the US PS3 version of the game.

The pad is the controller for people on the mic and defaults to all the singing options.

On the PS store the pricing is 1 song for $1.99 and 3 song bundles for $5.49. The only songs which at $0.99 iirc are the two All American Reject songs, and that was AAR that wanted it priced like that.

Also remember though for the price of the game, the $ doing so poor wont be helping the price any either.
