****ing drink drivers!!!!

When I was in the Specials me and a regualr officer nearly got hit by a woman who turned out to be a drink driver.

We had pulled a car that was linked to some burglaries and while we were dealing with the occupants a women came down the road and nearly hit us.

When she was found and locked up at roughly six in the morning she blew over 100 still.

Because the police didn't have the training to jump in after him. :o

i swear we had this conversation on this forum when this programme was aired last year :p

We did, and as I said then, what were they supposed to do? They have none of the training or equipment the fire brigade do, and with no idea where he was, they had no chance.

I am a trained rescue diver:

Rules of water rescue:
-Do not enter the water unless/until you absolutely have to.
-Never endanger yourself trying to rescue someone else.

Also, after:
-4-6 minutes without oxygen, brain damage is possible
-6-10 minutes, brain damage is very likely
-10 or more minutes, irreversible brain damage will have occurred

IIRC, by the time the police got there, they would have been too late to prevent brain damage or death so they could not justify risking their own lives.

And done what? They had no idea where he was and it was pitch black, deep water. You'd have ended up with 2 people drowning rather than just one.

Anyone watching this now? What are those two brothers like? They were literally foaming at the mouth!

Edit: not much traffic stuff, but they keep the strange ones till last don't they?

Burnsy
