Record Ronaldo Bid

If we sold him now who would replace him? It'd be pointless. If there was a player as good as him who we could bring in then fair enough, but at the moment it'd just weaken us.

As said, he'll want to go eventually, but if Fergie has anything to do with it it won't be until he's approaching 29/30 when we'd still get a fair sum of money for him, whilst him having give us the best of his career in the meantime.

They wont sell, would be pointless, we have a great team, sure with 100 million we could add to that, but taking away a big part of that to do so, won't be a good idea :)

He's irreplaceable and there's no way Man.U. would be as good as they are today without him. The only reason they would sell him is if he wanted to leave so bad that he started throwing strops and putting in less than acceptable performances, so fingers crossed.

He's worth a lot more than that to United.

Even with £100m I don't think they could buy a player or bunch of players who've had as much impact on their season as Ronaldo has.

He is literally priceless.

If Barcelona offered £100mil + Messi + Bojan I'd take. Real don't really have any players that could potentially replace him.

My respect towards the Glazers has increased for letting SAF get on with the job, but if they want to milk it for the cash then they can **** right off.

Besides, didn't Real take a loan from the bank recently for over 20 million euros or pounds? If so, how the hell do they expect to afford him?

If Real do bid £100m for Ronaldo, then I can't see Man Utd turning that down myself, that's just too much money to turn down and I'm not convinced anyone would be prepared to pay that much for a player anyway.

I really hope this isn't true. I'm not worried United would accept, because I really don't think they would, but because if it is, Real Madrid really need their heads testing.

United don't need the money, so they won't be selling him. It would have to be an offer substantially larger than £100m for them to even consider it.

All that kid needs in another ego boost like thinking he is worth £100m

He's not worth £100m, he's worth more. If I was as good as Ronaldo is I'd have an ego. Thing is, Ronaldo doesn't. He's well behaved and you never hear anyone saying he acts like a tool away from Man Utd. None of this "Don't you know who I am?" ego crap you get from a lot of Premier League footballers.

Sorry for the 4th post, but...

Let's look at this from the other side... Would Ronaldo WANT to leave?
He's settled in Manchester and adored by the biggest fanbase in the world.
He has a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex and Carlos Queiroz.
He's the star player in a team built around him. He has good friends at Man Utd such as Rooney, Nani and Anderson.
He's in a team that play fantastic attacking football with a brilliant defence.
He's in a balanced attacking side that benefit everything he does.
He's in a young side who will get better.
He cares more about playing football than money; he's going onto £140,000 a week anyway.
He's playing in the best league in the World.
He's playing in possibly the best team in the World right now.
He's seen what happened to Henry going abroad, he gets all the attention and can shine in England, the fastest and toughest league.
Man Utd can compete on all fronts anyway and are a better team than Real Madrid.

And G|mp would stab him.

I agree, good post Nok

£100M is a silly amount to pay for a player and United would be foolish to turn it down.

When you consider Zidane (a better player) was £50M AND was bought when the transfer market was more inflated than it is now, paying twice that amount for Ronaldo wouldn't make much sense. When you factor that Ronaldo is much younger than Zidane was and could potentially still improve as a player, somewhere between the £45M-£60M would be sensible.

Was Zidane a better player?
He was undoubtedly a better passer, but he was slower, less skillful and less dynamic.
Don't get me wrong, Zidane is one of my 3 favourite players of all time, but I wouldn't say he was a better player.

I find it a little annoying that just the name Real Madrid is automatically seen as enough to sway any player. I'm not saying they're not a huge club, they obviously are, if not the top club then at least in the top 3.

But it's sometimes as if simply mentioning the name is enough to overrule numerous other factors (some of which Nokkon already mentioned). No club can compete with Real's history, but I'd say that's often going to be all they can offer over other clubs.
Was Zidane a better player?
Yes.

Who knows how high Ronaldo will rank in a few years, but at the moment nobody in their right mind could put him ahead of Zidane.
