There's not a chance in hell that you would get 48 hours warning lol (it would promote total panic and pandemonium). At best you can hope for total news embargo and a nice quick death, unawares.

If however I did find out that I had 48 hours left, I would steal the odd thing, say goodbye to loved ones and head for the hills on my own.

If I knew the world was going to end in 48hrs I'd get hold of more drugs than I could possibly take and get myself into the state where I wouldn't give a **** that we were all about to be blown into oblivion.

I can see the appeal of the more sensible/obvious suggestions, but if it came to it I think I'd just be more likely to go the 'getting smashed' route.
