I'm thinking about one of these as a runabout when I sell the 205 :) I can't get past the whole "I hate 4 doors" thing though :/

there is more to go wrong on the mondeo, and more expensive to fix....as i've learnt. Phone a garage and ask them for a quote on a headgasket or clutch change a on a 2.5l v6 mondeo....they'll either quote the earth or laugh and hang up

The 325 is more economical aswell than the V6 Mond?

Tbh I'd have one of these over a Mondeo.

Excuse the dodgy lighting, couldnt be bothered with flashes and petrol stations dont have exactly consistant lighting :p

You'd still buy one regardless of the image you percieve them to have?

I wont be living in Plymouth come 2 months time.... :)

Seriously though, what is likely to go wrong with them, how much to fix, etc.? Basically, proove to me this is a better buy than a 2.0 Mondeo Ghia

itll cost hell of a lot more to run than a 2l ghia, the comparison was to a v6 mondeo, which also being a 6 cyl is gonna be similar to run. 2l mondeo ghias will run forever with the odd drop of oil putting in the engine, and i think even that is optional :D these are aproximitely double the age too....

If im still without car in a few months and have a job that can fund the insurance, It may well be a 2.5 V6 Mondey... but thankyou for convincing me to put the E36 idea to bed...

An E36 M3 Evo track car on the other hand, id rob a bank for!

Plop it in Sport mode (should be called dangerous mode) and its pretty fun. The gear changes are violent enough to get you sideways anyway ;)

Don't take rg-tom's advice on maintaining oil level of any engine. :p

O_O i was only a little bit low when my engine died, people have had it die with it above minimum.....if you delve further into the problem you're actually advised to keep it just above MAX to prevent the oil starvation due to oil surge.....they really should've put a baffled sump on it :p

Other than that, never had a problem RE oil :p

The Auto is fine, in sport mode is puts you face first into the windscreen then pushes you back in the seat, whilst i would prefer a manual this auto box seemed fine.

not too ludicrously offtopic, but what camera did you use for those shots tom? they're awesome.

I've been looking at Bimmers recently. i kind of want one. Not an expensive one mind you. That one is lovely, especially for the money.

really? I thought they were pretty shocking really, it was really dark and i'd forgotten my remote release.

What makes you think they wont do that for a 325i?

suppose, but its a much bigger engine bay and looking under the bonnet there seemed to be better access....just a guess though :p

Oh yes. i see your sig now. muppet.

the depth of field in the 3rd picture is awesome :)

The autobox in E is great for slow speed stuff. Sports mode is just a complete laugh. I really didn't think I would like an auto but now I have done a few hundred miles in one, I quite like it :)
