Hitler dolls comming soon!

Quite shocking.

But, there are far worse despots than Hitler, and most have monuments or statues in cities as well as dolls of themselves that children play with.
Think of Pol Pot or Stalin, or all the other mass killers who are still regarded with love by many.

The idea that Hilter is or was the worst figure ever to step foot on this earth is far from the truth & I wish people would stop giving him such a reputation. He was a nutter drug addict politician who got to big for his boots, nothing more & was stopped. Reporting on shocking things like the doll only add to peoples curiosity of him.

I can't work out if this is tongue in cheek or not but if not, here's my response.

I agree that there are other dictators/people in power who have been on par with or worse than Hilter but you cannot for a minute argue that, because he was a crazed drug addict who got 'too big for his boots', he doesn't deserve his reputation as one of the biggest tyrants on this history of the world.

Apart from the fact that he incited a 6 year world war which saw the death of tens of millions of people, he played a part in the systematic killing of 6 million people based on their religious views, In some parts of Europe there are no longer any Jews due to the actions of the Nazi party.

How is that 'far from the truth'.

That would be a better idea, I would buy a Jon Cleese doll, one thing though if these dolls do get tons of news coverage it will make them uber fleabay items with huge prices.

As you can see from the Modellers Loft site, there is a big interest in the UK for man dollies. ;) Given that I was a huge fan of Action Man when I was younger and I have a big, even amatuer interest in WWII then I have to confess to a rather large collection of such 'collectable action figures'.

Google Von Abt and you'll see just how much fun you can have with 12 inches of plastic. :D

Now I do confess to a large slice of my collection being German soldiers, even SS troops but there is a healthy smattering of Brits and if the manufacturers would only do Brits in bigger numbers then my collection wouldn't be so heavily in favour of Axis forces. It's a common problem with all WWII items in all scales, German items sell well, extremely well.

As for Hitler, some will buy him just to make a diorama and others will buy him just for their collection (otherwise known as completists), some for the associated items and will just ditch the figure and some will buy just because it's Hitler. Different strokes for different folks.

Tangent!

I did this and after a few more clicks came across information on the 1st World War 'Paris Gun':

"The gun was capable of hurling a 94 kg (210 lb) shell to a range of 130 km (81 miles) and a maximum altitude of 40 km (25 miles)"

81 miles... 81 !!

/Tangent. Back OT...

I think his point was that Hitler should stop being regarded as 'the most evil person ever' because there have been others who have killed far more people than him. Stalin and Mao to name but two.

Yes, he was a tyrant and yes he did some terrible things, but somehow, I can't see the same outrage applying if it was a doll of Stalin or Mao even though they killed many more people.

Most of the German army was on Meths, they were handed out in standard rations.

I don't regard Hitler as 'the most evil person ever ever ever'... but he's certainly one of them. I'm not fussed about the doll and can't really understand the outrage. It's was more the blasé attitude that got to me. It sounded like "Well he was a bit bad, but there's been worse so it's ok, get off his back". Almost comparable to kids breaking a window with a football and people saying "Ah well, it's only kids". Also this notion that because everyone in the Nazi army was doped up some how makes it acceptable? Give me a break.

yes but they didn't kill OUR people did they?

Hitler did, so for us Hitler was worse than either as Stalin and mao didn't kill a large number of British and Americans.
