2008 Spanish GP - Race 4/18

I bet that's annoying the crowd. Good to see the petulant Spanish git couldn't quite make it onto pole.

What was the point in that... he didn't even wave or celebrate for his fans! Utterly pointless exercise! He just puts himself at risk for the race because there's going to be a lot of cars wanting to overtake him as early as possible.

How much fuel does 1.1 seconds equate to?
A fair bit I think but most folk are ~1.5s down on Q2 so I think he's light.

Sorry? It was pointless of Alonso, a racing driver, to try and go for pole?

OMG I watched F1 and Touring Cars and all motorsport is rubbish!!

Seriously dude, theres LOTS out there. Single make championships are much more interesting anyway, its all driver skill. I do agree, F1 is boring at the mo, will hopefully be sorted next year.

I have been watching motorsport live since 1976 and have attended hundreds of events over the years. I have probably missed 10 Autosports since 1979, subscribe to Motorsport and take most of the major motorsport magazines weekly and monthly and have something in the region of 100 books on the sport. Its fair to say I am somewhat 'well read' and experienced on the Motorsport front and you are right, there is plenty of good motorsport out there each weekend, just not at the top level in my opinion ;)

I used to adore Sports Car racing, both Group 5/6 and Group C and I was bored to tears watching the GT's at Silverstone last weekend. Go figure, I might just be getting old :p

Taking Massa as a time/fuel comparison (to Alonso) as he is one of the few drivers who pushed to the maximum in Q2.

Massa was 1.6 seconds slower in Q3 than Q2 so he is carrying 0.5 seconds a lap more fuel than Alonso (1.1 secs slower in Q3 than Q2). Brundle said 10kg of fuel was around 0.2-0.3 seconds per lap which means Massa has around 20kg more fuel than Alonso.

Barcelona track has a consumption of about 3kg of fuel per lap meaning Massa has around 6-7 laps more fuel than Alonso.

So If my guestimates based in SDKs figures are right, can we expect alonso in around laps 10-12, and Massa sort of 16-18ish?

Nice lap by Alonso. We will see how light he is tomorrow.

Shame the Honda's couldn't get through :(

Interesting that Force India thought they could get Fisichella into Q2 but they were 1 second off doing it - way off really.

Tomorrow looks like it might be fun.

Kimi can run away, hide and then win the race while the rest of the muppets fall over themselves trying to pass Ferdy.

Alonso might be a plonker, but good on him for getting second. That'll annoy a lot of people. :D
