I think Vista haters are full of poo

I have bene toying with Vista since the beginning, I am lucky to have a number of systems.

I can honestly say that I have had mixed results from each PC and with each version too!

For example, I have stuffed Premium 32Bit onto one PC that does not support Vista, and guess what? - its rock solid, I have never had anything even as small as a hiccup and its been 100% perfect so much so, that I decided to activate it and its been rock solid flawless for over 7 months now... I cannot fault it.

Now, my No.2 Conroe has had Vista 32 and 64 thrown at it, and its rock solid but then after a few updates, it commits suicide. I have not been able to pin point why just yet, but I cannot be bothered. if I turn the updates off its fine, but why should I?

On my main PC, I really really want to go Vista64, and every time I install it, its getting better and better each time, but its still not quite there. I put Vista on at the beginning of the month, run it for a month and then decided to activate or not... I have activated it twice now assuming that it was good enough, but alas, its not. Im back on XP64.

So, for me, had I just had Premium32 and I had only the Neo2, then I would be saying that Vista is rock solid blah blah blah and anyone who speaks against it is a liar.

If I had only the Intel then I would say the opposite.

The fact still remains that not everyone is going to be happy, Vista, when its right, is a fantastic O/S, its a hell of a lot more powerful than XP, and its faultless.

It is however not perfect.

Put things simply, but if your PC can run it right, and you are happy with it, then good on you, enjoy it.

If our PC cannot run it right, dont worry! - who cares? - after all Microsoft have realised just how poor it is on a global scale that they have brought the release of Windows 7 so far forward that its showing that Vista has no future, so lets wait till thast released and have the last laugh then!

( The last bit is only a bit of a joke ok )

Windows 7 release schedule hasn't changed. The recent gutter press reports suggesting that it had were just FUD.

No?

Ah well, I suppose Vista has more future than these so-called reports are giving us, but then its to be expected...
I dont think I can think of a single Version of Windows that has not had its share of the smear-campaigners doing their stuff.
Vista is only the latest in a long line...

Its not the first and it wont be the last as they say.

yet you claim to run linux? it's just cache.

Run Linux on an old computer. Then run Vista on the same computer.
To my knowledge Vista needs 512mb of ram minimum, whereas with Linux you can get away with 256mb fine. So if performance on Linux is good and it caches the data too, why is so much RAM needed as minimum?

Who said they didn't fix it? no problems here for me, I get 10MB/s transferring over a 10/100 network and that's from my SP1 Ultimate to a non SP1 Premium

Stop been a geek.

People have their own personal opinions in IT, especially OS's. There is pro's and cons of vista, but still... boils down to someones Individualism.

I bought a dell lappy a couple of months ago with vista x86 on (which is fine, it has 2gb of RAM and I'm only using it for uni work and such so no need for an upgrade really) and I was shocked to find that I really liked vista. I'd tried vista on launch on my old computer (athlon64/1gig RAM) and it was a bit slow and buggy so I went back to XP. Since I liked vista on my laptop I decided to put it on my main comp as well but I opted for x64. I#ve had it on for a couple of days now and haven't had a problem.

The only issue I have is no drivers for my m-audio soundcard, but that's not vistas fault... I use my computer for music production as well so I'm having to dual boot between vista and xp so I can record which is a bit of a hassle. Don't think vista's up to snuff for musicians yet judging by some of the music forums I go on.

My Vista experience was a very positive one when I switched.
I hated the look of XP and got god knows how many BSOD's, with Vista I only had one and that was due to shoddy Creative drivers.
But at the same time I just felt Vista could have been so much more.
I recently switched to Mac because I wanted a change and so far I can never see me going back to any Microsoft operating system unless drastic changes are introduced.
Some might argue that Apple sucks etc, but i'm not starting a flamewar here :P.
Vista, as others have said, is starting to mature well, too bad about Creative though.

And what changes are those?

First of all, OSX just feels much more responsive to me, things such as integrated drag and drop within all programs, and the quality of the programs seem much more higher than anything microsoft has provided.
My main reason for switching though was that I was sick of the constant hardware upgrading and the constant issues I had with Creative drivers, of course Microsoft isn't to blame but one would think a company that earns billions would be able to make sure driver support is available on time.
I don't have any of these issues on my Mac, everything can just be plugged in and works instantly.
What I find the most useful though is that everything operates of that nifty bar at the top, makes it much more simple I think.
Anyway, I'm NOT slagging Vista at all, it works better now than XP ever did for me, found the live search very useful and it certainly looks more consumer friendly.

People need to understand there's more WINDOWS users than MAC users and by this principal it will be the case that Windows users report more problems due to the infinitely greater volume of software and hardware available to that OS.

There are many people who have had no Vista issues including myself and I have used OSX/10/Leopard (on Macbook Pro at work for testing purposes) and whilst it was nice it just could not navigate me round as swiftly as I could on Vista.

I hated the look of XP and got god knows how many BSOD's,

Given that the vast majority of XP users have never seen a BSOD... Given the fact that I myself have never seen any kind of hiccup in the 3 years of running XP64, dont you think that perhaps....

...Just perhaps...

PEBKAC?

Vista seems fast and looks better imo but does have issues with somes games and therefore I dual boot now

Maybe you're right Fat, I just find it weird that I always had problems with XP but never really experienced them with Vista.
It's all up to the individual user I guess, some have good experiences, others only have problems like I did, the lucky thing was that I was only on XP for about a month until Vista came out and I switched.

What games dont work in Vista?

I have myself been running XP64 for 3 years now and I have yet to find a game that does not work perfectly fine ( Most of the time games are better than in XP32 ) and in the small trials I have had with Vista64, I have not yet had a game that does not run perfectly fine in Vista64 either?

So, I would love to know of any games that dont work in Vista!

I know there must be some out there but where?

Maybe, but one month surely you must agree is nowhere near enough to give an O/S a fair run?

I myself found it difficult to move from 2000 to XP, but now I find XP superior except in cases where low RAM would find 2K the better choice. ( Thats not to say that XP is always the better choice apart from that because its not )

Much like I am finding it difficult to justify moving to Vista as my main O/S a this time too!

I dare say in the future I will find it hard to move from Vista.

For now though, Im finding that XP64 is better on my main rig than any of the others for my needs.
