Here comes the Hayfever

Ahh never twigged it would be my hayfever as it hasn't been that "summer-ish" here. But i've started sneezing a lot lately, usually a sign it's starting up! Yey, let's all go roll in rape seed oil fields. hahaha. MY EYES!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MY EYES! lol.

superdrug are very good with their own brand anti-histerwhatchamacallits 2 types (unbranded piriton and claritin) for about £1.20 for 7, also boots do ones with decongestants included for £4 for 12.

edit: 12 tablets

I asked about that jab but was told you can't get it on the NHS due to a 1 in a million chance of it killing you and it being a steroid?

Boots do packs of 7 unbranded antihystamines for 99p :p.

I get it all year round, constant blood in my nose every month of the year - different levels of it though but I always have it even if very slightly :(

mm i've had a lot of blood there recently, probably because i've been blowing it so much. Not sure if it's a cold or hayfever, usually get it but not itchy eyes yet.

Personally I use Beconaise nasal spray (beclamethasone - a steroid) - far better than any of the many tablets I've tried over the last thirty years.

my gayfever has been playing me up a little for about 2 weeks now!

I hate this time of year - due to my eyes!

When in high pollen season, every morning, my eyelids are caked shut from all the liquid discharge during my sleep - I have to literally crawl to the bath room and bathe my eyes using warm water and cotton wool

Yup i've found the nasal spray to work quite well, much better than tablets. You just have to make sure you take the required dose for 3-4 days before it starts to do its work :)

I was off sugar (including all fruit, etc), yeast, wheat, dairy and just about everything else for 3 months. All I could drink was water. I could eat meat and veg and rice and that was about it.

Ive read many times that suguar/salt and dairy products like even milk and chocolate trigger off hayfever badly.

But I think I can adjust my diet to Water/rice+beans bootcamp style for the next few months ;) In general I eat that way anyhow with Veg+rice+pasta.

Gonna give it a go why not...

But I gotta admit had an itch in my left eye and itchy runny bloody nose too lately perhaps I need to see a specialist or start tabs :(

I'm no doctor, but I'm fairly certain hayfever is triggered by pollen. There are certainly various cranks who think diet is an issue causing hayfever (as opposed to true food allergies), but it's amazing how many of those cranks just happen to be involved in companies selling the foods which will "cure" the symptoms. Pseudoscience at best, and roughly as useful as homeopathic medicine (aka lactose).

Been taking tablets a few weeks now.
I'm just happy I don't have it anywhere near as bad as when I was a teenager. Back then It would be a few months into the season and soon would be hours of being blind from swollen eyes and injections from the GP.

Now a days sainsburys non-drowsy tablets get rid of most of it.

It use to be available on the NHS. Had adult doses of it for several years when I was ~14
