Shall i get a PS3?

im confused as to what to buy, got a highend pc and a wii but want GTA4 but dont know what console to get. not bothered about all the bs surrounding each console all it does is cloud by judgement.

do i just get cheapest? or is ps3 worth the xtra money for BR, can 360 provide on the media front?

arrrghhh its doing my head in
I suppose the quick and dirty answer is if you're mainly a PC gamer and want GTA4 cheap and a media player/MCE extender to the living room TV then go for 360.

If you have a HD TV and think you might want to go for HD media over DVD eventually PS3 would be my choice for Blu-Ray.

All the other stuff is six of one and half a dosen of the other IMHO.

Just remember that 360 doesn't always work out cheapest. Depending on what you use, you may have to pay £60 for wireless adapter, £30 pa for Live Gold; then X amount for keyboard, headset and camera - whereas with the PS3, if you have something that works on the PC, then it usually works with the PS3 too - as long as its USB or bluetooth.

If you just want to play GTA4 then the 360 bundle is the best option (£199). add £100 if you want blu-ray (PS3)

Edit: Gah my sig modded again.

True, although it's £25 for Live gold, nothing for a keyboard if you have a USB one already, £55 for the wireless, with no need for a camera and the headset is free with the 360. I was just basing the "cheap" option on only really wanting to play GTA4 on it primarily rather than investing in a full blown console gaming set of stuff.

£199 buys the 360 GTA4 bundle which apparently is:

Includes Xbox 360 Premium Console and Grand Theft Auto IV
Includes 20GB Hard Drive
Includes Wireless Controller
Includes Headset - Voice Communicator
Includes Component HD AV Cable (with SCART adaptor)
Includes HDMI Port

PS3 GTA bundle is £299 and includes:

Includes Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Console with 40GB HDD and Grand Theft Auto IV
Console features:
40GB HDD
2 USB Ports
Matte finish
Sixaxis Wireless Controller

Just FWIW, so as I said, I reckon it comes down to if you think you'll use Blu-Ray or not.

I did say "Depending on what you use".
At minimum he will probably pay the £25 p.a. for Gold, but if he eventually gets all the extra stuff it might cost more. Btw when I said camera I meant the Live Vision camera, which can be used for video calls and pulling faces to people you just killed in games..

True but I don't think many have them, none of my friends who have 360 have them. Its about as likely a purchase as an eyetoy tbh.

Depends if you like watching films or not tbh. I rent at least a film a week and always opt for the Blu-ray version as it doesn't cost anymore and I can..

But if all you want is GTA4 then there really is no reason to spend more.

Speaking from my perspective the only thing thats put me off getting a 360 is all the good stuff like Alan Wake, Gears of War, Mass Effect etc filter down to the PC anyway. I am not interested in achievements or stuff like that. And I cannot play fps with a controller which is why I have cod4 on the pc rather than on the ps3.

SNIPPED the big list of 360 Pro's and cons vs PS3 pros and cons

Nice list there, Much better now its not red :p I've un ignored you, Mainly because you've had a lot of say in this thread and I missed a lot. :D

Can we start fresh? I'll be nice. I'm not a fanboy, If you spend some time here, You'll come to see that :) (that smiley is a smiley, not a way of saying something mean :D)

As far as I'm aware the achievements are already in the process of becoming a reality. Only with the PS3 they are called Trophies and will be released along side the Home update.

Sounds good i thought i would miss the achievements but i havent missed them that much at all really but if we are getting trophies :) on ps3 then great .

Yea you get your own trophy room as well in home and other users can come view the gallery to see how big your e-peen is! Looooovvely.

Well i did the deed....

PS3, GTAIV, GT5:P, COD4 for £360 (ironic that it is 360 :P)

I didnt need to but my impulsive nature got the better of me!

Would have been cheaper to buy it on the 360!! oh well!

Now i need to unpack it all :)

Sorted...uncharted? im really naive at the mo but what is it :P? i got COD4 cos my friend has it and plays online.

There's a demo of it on the PSN you could download, it's over a GB tho, just did that myself then ordered it today.

It's a sorta Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones meets gears of war type game, seems quite good.
