I didn't say you can't patch an MMO. But you've completely ignored the context with which i said it.
The game has apparently gone gold. This means a final version is being pressed, and is almost certainly completely incapable of running stably without patching. I was saying its not a great sign.
I really can't remember what happened with Lotro, was so long ago. I remember deleting the beta and reinstalling full version with high res textures, but I can't remember if the game client itself needed patching. As for the open beta, it was pretty damn good apart from the memory leak issue which, once i switched from nvidia to ATi card magically dissappeared.
Err, its also not a 150mb patch, theres been, afaik 2x180mb patches, a half dozen or more at 50mb or so, and i think a 150MB patch. Theres been about 10 small patches just today. Like i said, that doesn't bode well for a product they have essentially shipped now, and also one they said would be ready hours ago today, thought was working but needs a dozen patches in a single day to get working. I'm not saying their can't be kinks, thats obvious, but its a touch weird considering several things, they've gone gold, they've had working beta's for ages, theres 3 separate beta's supposedly. HOwever this is supposed to be pretty much the final build version just for stress testing and checking some other stuff.
