It's also important to remember a lot of people would have voted Boris simply to stop this 'idiot' getting the role as Mayor again.
Changed it for you

London's not going to change that much really - the London mayor position is a silly one IMO,
For all the people putting Boris down, he has got a decent (2.1) degree from Oxford. Classics or not, that's more than a lot of people on this board would manage.

For a supposed left winger, Ken has been very pro business and his liberalisation of the planning laws has helped London's current skyscraper building boom - which needs to occur if London is to remain ahead of New York as the world's pre-eminent financial centre. Boris is on the record as being opposed to these new buildings and also airport expansion at Heathrow, both of which mean he is not good for business and the prosperity of London and Britain.
The guys a complete eccentric but I'm sure he'll have a team of advisors to keep an eye on him.

Is it the mayor in principle or the practicalities of the situation that you think are wrong? I just find it a bit silly the idea that the world's financial centre and by far the most powerful city in the country and possibly Europe should be without a powerful leader.

I happen to agree with Borris on that one.
Also NY will always be streaks ahead of London in every way I'm afraid.
What the hell does having a poncy degree prove about your ability to run a major international city?![]()

Relaxing planning laws isn't all fun and games. Everytime I get the train past Leeds I cringe!
I'd also say the state of the economy has immesurably more to do with the strength of the financial markets than whether new sky scrapers can be built.
You also have to question a man who'd slap a £25 charge on cars to reduce pollution while he goes and supports a new runway which will pollute even more!
For a start it shows a pretty high level of intelligence.

Well most people are accusing Boris of being an idiot and a degree kinda goes some way to prove he isnt. Plus you have to consider Boris' background, any credible minister would have needed an education in the classics until recently, hes merely following this traditionalist stance.
I could equally say that the hell does ANY degree prove about your ability to run a major international city?!
