Hey, I'm looking to get a new monitor to push my graphics card a bit and play with more shinies.
I'm looking at

I want these because they both play at 1920x1200, They both are HD ocmpatible (at least i think so, the second one says notrhing about HDMI, but DOES support 1080p...?)

However, I can't see a difference between the two... Is there a difference?

I'm also unsure as to what it means by 160/160 viewing angles, i know it means how far form the side you can see it... but i don't really see what angle it's talking about...

they both have a resolution which can handle a 1080 signal (ie over 1920 x 1080), but not sure whether they can handle a 1080p input over HDMI, sometimes that can vary from screen to screen.
However, I can't see a difference between the two... Is there a difference?

spec wise, the only real difference is the max brightness, with the NEC offering 400 cd/m2 while the BenQ offers only 250 cd/m2. i wouldnt let this be a deciding factor though, and both models are TN Film technology based. I would recommend having a read about panel technologies in the sticky though, since that will help you get an idea of the overall performance characteristics you will get with these screens. Both should be very comparable when it comes down to it in practice.

it means in theory it has 160 degree visibility horizontally and vetically (ie horiz / vert), but in reality, it is nothing like that. Have a read about viewing angles and specs here which should help :)

Looks nice, and i went on their website for additional specs, but it doesn't say the panel type anywhere... Any idea where i can find out?

Preferrably i'm after a VA panel monitor, since IPS is a bit too expensive and TN doesn't offer the viewing angles i'd like.

it's another TN Film panel. You can check what panels are used using the search tool here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ ;)
 
btw like Badass says the 160degrees is a very misleeding figure, you really need to check some reviews, especially ones which compare tn to pva or ips because even though a tn may quote 160 and a pva 178 the difference is huge. If viewing angles is something you are looking at it is definately a key consideration with any tn panel.
