Does that not affect the 'structural integrity'? Or the stability of the car?
The boot isn't a load-bearing structure.

I'm confused as to why getting 1130hp from a 2 ltr engine is such a big deal.
After all, F1 cars were pushing 1500hp in qualifying trim back in the 80s. Yes it would be true to say that they only lasted a few laps before dieing, but that's true of this too.
Before anyone argues that F1 were using mega-technology, also not quite true as the Brabham BMW 1.5 turbo was based upon the block from a 316.

1130BHP and 176mph top speed? What a waste tbh.
Still impressive to squeeze that much power out of it though.

bit of info on that bmw m12/13-1 engine here http://www.gurneyflap.com/bmwturbof1engine.html

well, they also revved to 11k. im guessing its far easier to extract power the faster an engine can turn, looking to bikes as an example. thats assuming they can rev that high in the first place, which the original 2litre blocks the 1.5 engines used certainly couldntstill. 1500hp from a 1.5litre engine is still extraordinary.

1.) Thats the terminal speed for the quarter mile it ran.
2.) It's a drag car and as such it will be geared for the quarter mile.
171mph in a quarter of a mile is ridiculous.
I don't quite "get" drag racing in this way though, having a friend who runs one of the quickest drag evo's in the UK, I know how much money can go into this and it is absolutely ridiculous.
Each to their own I guess.
Wasnt it 176 mph at the 1/4 mile not top speed ??

My older brother has the E21 beemer in his back yard unless hes sold it.
Ive always wanted to buy it from him and fiddle with the M10 2 litre its got inside it.
Money has just always got in the way though![]()

, with no exhaust on the turbo it must sound like a jet engineYou'd be lucky to get 100bhp/litre

Im not sure it would pass a MOT, with no exhaust on the turbo it must sound like a jet engine
