Hi all,

My two front wheels have misshapen tyres on them. Obviously I am going to get them replaced asap but just wondering what effects this might have on a car as the handling seems to be a bit unpleasant.

Thanks

Misshapen? Do you mean they have bulges etc? If so then Penskis suggestion is pretty much correct.

I don't know to be fair, just took it in to get my tracking sorted and they said they are misshapen. My new tyres are being delivered today thank god!

The wire structure inside the tyres themselves can become out of shape. As far as I know tyres are still basically build by hand and no human is perfect so occasionally things can go wrong, especially with the amount of pot holes that can give your tyres a good bashing.

If you look at the dodgy tyres on the car you will likely see they have a bit of an S shape to them.

going not at all would be a much more sensible option. I hope you realise this is illegal and an easy 6 points on your license.

I didn't realise this, thanks for the heads up. They are not worn under the legal limit though.

As for not going at all, I don't have much choice. I have work to go to.

Just because the tread is ok dosnt meant the tyre is legal. Clarkey is right, fine plus three points per dodgy tyre and if your tyre is misshapen its not road worthy. Not to mention what could happen should you be involved in accident where your at fault , especially if somebody is injured or worse.

Mine were out on the ST a while back, they wouldnt balance up properly, you couldnt really tbh, I only found out when i took the car in to get a vibration through the steering wheel looked at.

It was the back tyres tho, probably doesnt help how i go around round abouts tbh:p

Probably just means feathered tread blocks from the bad alignment.
safe and legal IMO.
If however the plies are damaged and it's allowing the tyres to completely go out of shape then yea, do yourself a favour and leave it at home.

There is always a CHOICE.. one of which as Penski said in the first reply is death if it all goes **** up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
