Race Driver Grid Demo available (Xbox360)

having played both demo`s i must say that i like it better on the 360 graphics wise, but car control is a lot better on the ps3 plus the 360 doesn`t seem to crash the console like the ps3 keeps doing to me .

Does any-one think this game feels/handles like a pile of poo after GT5 pro, I know its ment to be more arcadey but the cars spin off far to easly.

I think after 4 and half pages of people saying that it handles crap, some might agree.

sigh read the thread....

Doesn't crash my superior 60GB ps3. :p

Looks identical on both systems and plays exactly the same.

Good job CM.

Looks great, plays awful.

That handling is appauling. Even for an arcade racer, thats terrible. No feel at all from the cars, like they've got a big stick through the middle and are floating 2" off the ground.

I just want it to be like TOCA Race Driver on the PS2, the last great incarnation before this series went downhill.

And this handling-thing... Every single game I've ever played that has claimed to be "realistic" (Forza, GT4 etc) has been rubbish in that respect. There's no point even trying as it can't be realistic.
Cars just 'handle' like cars in a computer game should.

Looking forward to playing the demo later... does it have a slimey killer driver like TOCA RD did? "if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen"

right - so i have had an hour on both ps3 and 360 versions last night

800mb for the xbox 360 and 1gb for the ps3 version - dont really understand that

both look great - i think the 360 version looks a lot cleaner - the menus are smoother and the text looks better

Just played this, it clearly could be really good. visuals are excellent, handling is appauling. there is just no feel to the game, no real sense of speed, and balance, one minute you are exiting a corner nicely, next minute with absolultey no warning you are facing backwards. coming from playing gt5p in proffesional with no driving aids perfectly, to playing this isnt good.

If they just sorted the handling out, and made the cars feel like they actually had some weight, then this could be a really fun game, if it stays like it is i don't think i will be buying it.

This game (as I just said in irc) is confusing me...

[17:45:39] <Zogger> GRID is confusing me
[17:45:53] <Zogger> on one hand i dislike the handling... on the other hand i have this urge to play it agian..
[17:46:12] <Zogger> and on my third hand I have 12 fingers

I did play a couple of good games on xbl last night. With damage on the potential to get wrecked makes it more fun and when you're close to someone you're both going pretty fast and it feels like anything could go wrong any second. When I've played PGR online I haven't found it as interesting, races always seem a bit more distanced. Also no-one on my friends list has really played pgr4

Have to say I'm actually quite liking GRiD. Sure the handling seems off and when you slow down to 50mph in the BMW it sticks like its on rails, but the american muscle car racing is awesome! When you confine it to inside view it really is fun!

Just seems like DiRT but with different cars and slightly better graphics. Still decent though.

Exactly my thoughts...i like it whereas with Dirt i couldnt stand the game tbh..Grid seems like a good game, the handling takes some time getting used to but dont think ill be buying it...probably when its around £20 then ill pick it up but for the time being GTA4 is and will keep me entertained for some time yet...plus im cutting down on the amount of games im buying this yr:p.

I'm a bit disappointed there doesn't seem to be an option to play multiplayer with forced headcam and forced driving aids. Don't know if it will be the same in full game though. One of the things that could make the game worth buying anyway.

Seeing as I was playing GT5P earlier and had the G25 wheel out, I thought I'd give the demo (PS3) another bash. Again, all aids off and pro mode turned on (though I can't tell the difference with it off).

FF seems okay, the slight nudge when you shift gears is a nice touch. Touring Cars was still horrible to play, but I enjoyed the Muscles Cars a bit more. Drifting was the most fun though. 900 degree mode is a bit of an acquired taste. It felt like driving a truck on the default settings, but for drifting I set the steering weight down to about 10-20% and it was pretty fun to "throw" the wheel up and feel it spin quickly. No clutch support, but I understand. A sim this ain't.

Definately gonna give this a rent.

Ok i finally played it last night, i come from a Sim background but i did like the GRID demo, outrageous handling and speeds but it is good fun, the drift was good too

i still hate the "you spin out no matter what" thing they do when you go off the track though

oh and great replays too!

downloaded this last night, i think its great fun. im going to be getting this for sure.

like every one else the Muscles Cars are very good fun.

I have to agree with the majority on the handling, it's dire :(

Though, I totally ignored it when I was fighting my way through the pack :)

Doubt I'll buy it, but it's going on my rental list right now.

Tried it all aids off, awful. As previously said Burnout does good arcade handling. This isn't even a patch on TOCA, and how old is that, 8 years ago?
