Received my new N82 today... frst impressions...

Right, off the phone to Orange just now, following a somewhat confusing series of events:

My old phone went funny whilst on the phone to upgrades. Organised upgrade, then went to insurance to get my old one replaced whilst I waited for upgrade to come. No problems from Oranges end, apart from they couldn't arrange courier, so I wait 24 hrs for them to call back.

Upgrade arrived a day early, the day I should have received my insurance replacement. Had insurance replacement re-scheduled for today. Because I'm still waiting for my insurance replacement, they can't do a replacement for the N82 unless I send it back and 're-upgrade'. I say insurance replacement for my old phone, but it's actually a fault replacement apparently.

I think the confusion lies in the '7 day to decide' period. I didn't think I would get my old one replaced, but guy in faults said I should replace my old phone even though I was on for an upgrade because I'd be left phoneless if I decided to send my new phone back. I'm not even bothered about this replacement for my old phone if I had a working N82 but one of the insurance women made me feel like I was on the con!

I don't even know why I've actually got insurance now. Whenever in the past I've had a damaged or faulty phone, I've just got through to the insurance dept. and they've replaced it. Turns out, despite having 2 faulty phones (my old one and the N82) I've not actually used my insurance at all. I thought that's what I was using with my old phone, and the N82 should have been straight replaced as faulty. Me = confuzzled.

Can you tell me where this is please?

It's just a theme change. If you change it to one of the Nseries themes, the whole lot changes (whereas, for example, the icons on my SE remain Orange branded even if the theme doesn't). Some of the Orange menus will remain though.

Ah I see...............

Not sure if I'm liking this phone or not? :(

If I send it back within the 7 day period do Orange have no hold over me in anyway?

no they don't, they will downgrade your contract when they scan it back in at there end, you will have to pay for the delivery to them.

whats the max price i should be paying for this simfree?

I've just got one from an auction site for £225 which is a pretty keen price I think considering they still go for £300 in proper mobile phone retailers. Mine is the silver version which I personally think looks the best (it looks far better in the flesh than in pictures I think).

Just as a follow up to this, I sent back the faulty one today and will receive my new one soon as it's been dispatched. Here's hoping for a problem free N82. Need to ring Orange really and see how exactly I'm covered by insurance because it seems different to how it's worked in the past and I was a bit annoyed to hear that my monthly payments still had to be supplemented by a £15 charge should I wish to pursue an insurance claim.

Does this phone have WiFi?

As above post, and I thought it excellent too.

Ive cracked the screen!!!!
I seriously nearly cried when I noticed it yesterday, theres a tiny crack on the outside screen but a massive one on the inside screen, and I cant read txt messages or anything.
I have to hope and pray O2 still have some in stock when I ring up later to get it replaced.
:(

Oh no....

How did you manage that? Dropped it? Few shady's :)

It was in my handbag, where it lives if I dont have a pocket I can put it in.

Took it out, and its just black on about 50 of it with a spiderweb crack.
Am completely gutted, if they cant replace it, I will have to take it to a shop and try and get them to repair it because I cannot think of another phone I love as much as this one.
