Just got a call from the new job, might have to go to Dubai for 24hrs. Leaving on Friday afternoon.


What's Dubai like, i.e. anything I should watch out for or be mindful of?
 
Alcohol is not illegal, however can't be consumed in public. You can buy it at the airport in cans to take to your house, or you can buy it in hotel bars. That's it. There are no pubs or bars, just hotel bars (actually Irish Village sell Guiness, but again it's indoor only and has curtains around so muslims cant see in)
 
Basically yes, it's a Muslim country, but the laws are slightly more relaxed for ExPats there. Just don't do anything in public, what you do in your own home is up to you. Except drugs, dont try to take drugs. it's not worth it.

Got a new job making large scale model cars and motor-sport related i.e F1, Le Mans prototype parts. Some of the model cars can cost around £15k.

Normally a trip to Dubai would never happen however the boss is in Italy, two others are in China and the guy I'm training with, well I'm not sure if he's able to go or not yet.

This will make you laugh though. The reason is that some hotshot over there has managed to break one of his model cars, is having people round in a few days to show off and want's it fixed. He's paying for all expenses lol. Mad...

better buy some new shoes to put on just before you get on the plane too, you can be convicted for having a less than a gram on your shoe tread.

seriously its as if you think all muslim countries are still in the 1800's where everything is prohibited

dubai is the number 1 resort to go to for the best hookers in the world

yes hookers

they will be waiting in most hotel lobby's and bars

you just take your pick and take them up to your room

and check this out they are extremely cheap too like £40 for the whole night and these girls are russians

also alcohol will be served at most hotels and there are hookers in the streets too, so if you see some russian bird calling you over, she isnt gonna ask for directions unless its back to your hotel room

the country is extremely modern and the laws are relaxed unless your an absolute muppet trying to smuggle a kilo of coke up your behind, which in any country would get you into a lot of bother

seriously though its good for shopping, sight seeing and hookers

apparently medical procedures are extremely cheap as well as electronics - like a hair transplant for £400 or a dvd and sat nav head unit for your car for £200

its good for fakes too like watches etc

some places can be extremely expensive though, but it is a very good holiday destination
