Us students are more intelligent than the people that have gone before.
We're more tolerate, we're not racist, we're not sexist, we have varied tastes in music, film and television and our taxes in the future are gonna support you lot in your old people's homes.
We're the goddamn future. I'm not like the idiots that went before me voting in Thatcher and generally screwing this country over. My school teachers were mostly idiots, a significant amount of the adults I know/knew were less open minded than me.
So what, so a few students get loud occassionally. Big deal. Saying that we're perma-screwed isn't fair or justified or correct. If we're screwed, then this country's ruined, because we'll destroy its economy by "not working, being wasters and general *******".

I think that you're showing some trolling behavior. You have started a really controversial thread which is quite offensive, and then instead of defending your position you're just ignoring posts which call you out on your views.
If you're going to start threads like these at least have the balls to respond properly when people have taken the time to write a reply.

I would be happy to, but when people start nitpicking and getting argumentative then it's time to stop. Basically anything I post now is only going to be ripped apart by bored people looking for a fight.
I put my views across, and handed it over to you guys to see what the general opinion was. So I'm hardly trolling.

What is it that you do? Desk-job? IT support? Laborer? Whatever it is, there will be an unfair generalisation, one which you would dispute if it didn't apply to you. People aren't being argumentative, they're just fighting their corner - and rightly so, in my view.
Another glaringly obvious point is this - you started this thread to antagonize students. You didn't qualify your opening statement (I hate students because of ....) and left it open to debate. Yes, some people agreed with you, lots didn't. If I said 'All muslims are terrorists', there would be people that agreed with me, too! It doesn't mean that what I said is correct or fair. You vehemently defended 'weeaboos' in the thread a while back, as you felt people were being unfair - exactly the same is happening here.
It is trolling. Qualify your statements, defend your position or keep quiet.

Every student I have lived with and most I've met, be it in education, or socially, has been unpleasant. I genuinely wondered if it was just bad luck on my part, or if people here had the same general opinion, so I started a thread to find out.
I don't believe it required any further information. In fact If I had given more information then the thread would have become about me, which is missing the point entirely... The point was to see if other people stereotyped students in the same way. So my own personal experiences are almost entirely irrelevant to the discussion.
And stop calling me a troll. That in itself is only going to cause petty bickering, thus making you a hypocrite.

Yes thankyou, Mr. 7k+ posts in less than a year. I find it hard to imagine how someone could manage that without being a little dysfunctional themselves...

And tbh yes some students are loud, messy.. e.t.c....
But so are many supposedly mature 9-5 adults who go out on a **** up on Friday and Saturday night.. They are rude, violent, intimidating, loud, obnoxious.. The list goes on.

The OP and their supporters have already decided on their personal opinion of students and will not be swayed either way.
Personally i think anyone who has studied for 3+ years to achieve a decent qualification (2:1 or 1st) deserves respect.
Anyone in this thread that has a degree or has been a student cannot complain about students, and anyone who hasnt has no grounds to base any theory or feeling on.
Ive worked hard for my degree, I will hope to get a decent job because of it, and ive enjoyed the experience. I dont personally give a dam about what other people may think of me, especially if they havent been though the process themselfes.

No, he just took it as the wrong context. He thought I was saying "people are agreeing with the original poster" which sounds wrong because the original poster was myself, thus I should have said something like "people are agreeing with me".
But actually I meant "people are agreeing with the original post".
Basically he was nitpicking.

It's not difficult. Plenty of older people are more intolerate and more easily offended by things than younger people are.
Look at the OP, stating all students are useless, with some totally blanket, un-informed, discriminate statement.
God, seek says that you're all in agreement. So you're all intolerant of students.
Doesn't take a genius to work out that what I said is correct.
Christ-sake's, people need to stop shutting themselves in the past. Threads like this just lower my opinion of supposed "mature adults" even more.
