Interesting you're saying you have to be weak to risk your life for your enjoyment?

Doesn't sound particularly weak,
-risk horribly painful death for pleasure-
- go without and possibly avoid gruesome death-

Actually the weakness comes from the addiction, the ones who are victim to its control over stress levels, I admire very much the people who overcome the addiction cos it takes a lot of will power and discipline(traits which are much more important then "enjoyment") . People who enjoy the occasional smoke and who couldn't care less if never had any more after the next I can understand a bit more

Do any smokers actually like the smell of stale smoke?

I can't so I was massively bothered about smoke in pubs/clubs but it was the smell of your clothes in the morning that made me wanna puke!

I've lost count of how many times I checked into a "non smoking" room in a hotel and have it stink of stale smoke, obviously the smokers don't like using the "smoking" rooms as they don't like the smell either!

I liked the smell in pubs, covered the smell of stale beer, urine and cleaning fluid. And sweat if we are talking a gig.
Which are things I can't stand.

Don't notice the smell in my house or hotel. I've always given people ashtrays even when I'd given up smoking because I don't notice the smell at home.
Then I decided I enjoyed it too much on drinking sessions and started again.

2. Never have and likely never will. I really don't see what the attraction is, bad for you, smell bad, no doubt taste bad and cost a fortune.

Never had, never will. Both my mum's parents died of lung cancer due to stupendous amounts per day. As a result, she'd kill me before the smoke ever did... and it's foul.

I don't like modern looking pubs, I like rough, 1960's looking kind of red pattern carpet pubs proper beers served in pint pots, knackered old pool table and darts pubs.

Not super slick city type middle class airconditioned super pub serving your favourite selection of cool crisp lagers in tall fancy glasses with about as much character as a supermodel in the superior sense and everyone uses long words and votes conservative pubs.

Taking it to the extreme but I know what pubs I like and they always have a smell of pub.

Exactly, plastic seats and a 50 inch plasma TV doesnt mean a good pub atmosphere to just socialise in.

the beer argument is the best, nobody likes it when they first try it but perserverance ???typo??? makes you realise how nice it can be. there are also so many different types of tobacco, cigars, cigarettes, cigarillos, chewing, snuff, snus as well as the different brands of all of them.
by taring (pun not intended) all cigarettes with the same brush, is like going i dont like carling, therefore i do not like beer.
