Bascally me and the Mrs having a night in tonight, now im going to stop at Asda on way home. Bascally need a bottle of wine (decent wine) suggestions?

Not to fussy, white would be better dont mind rose either and not drier than Gandhi's dap.

A good Chenin Blanc!

Always a winner. Not too dry, nice and fruity and goes down like a Nymph on speed so get 2 bottles ;)

i thought OCUK would have some wine connoisseurs, granted ASDA aint the best to get a decent bottle, but any more suggestions.

Ken Forrester - Chenin Blanc £6.12 ( I think you get 2 bottles for £4.99 each if I remember rightly)

OR if your tight on budget....

ASDA - Cape Chenin Blanc £2.98

If you looking for a good red then I would reccommend the Goiya Pinot shiraz at £4.62 a bottle.

nah not a tight budget was looking for a bottle around 20 - 30 mark if asda do that im not sure?

Don't think I've seen a bottle for more than £15 in a supermarket - apart from Champagne of course.

My favourite white is Chablis, usually costs £8-10 in a supermarket. Get 2 or 3 bottles of that imo ;)

You really don't need to be spending £20-£30 for a decent bottle of wine tbh unless your looking for bubbles ;)

If you want to splash out a little, have a look at the Kumala (South African) or Montana (Australian) range of wines at Asda.

Casillero Del Diablo red Carmenere is a good buy at around £5.50

I don't like their other red so much any more but the Carmenere is a cracker.

I agree with Johnny, a very pleasant wine.

The problem with supermarket wine is its all from mass producers. If you want to spend £30 on a bottle of wine for a special occasion get yourself to a proper wine shop.

I have a Tesco near aswell, that would be no problem (if they do better wine?).

As for food it will be honey glazed Duck breast on a bed of oyster and chitaki mushrooms if that helps. Duck is a darker meat so not sure if white works?

Red - McGuigan Gold Shiraz (2004 I think) is about £6 - £7 a bottle, and tastes sublime. Should be in the Australian section.

Or jeeez text message of misses, she dont want hassle of cleaning up tonight. Especally after me cooking duck lol. So its a takeaway chinese so i got to sort a decent bottle of wine. (she wants white)

White with duck? Not what I'd go for.

No, all the supermarkets serve the same selection of usually bland, mass produced wines. It's harder choosing from a supermarket then it is an independent wine seller.

see above Duck has been substituted for bloody chicken chow mein :( (she has put her foot down & she wants white :( )

Oh sorry, I was typing whilst you were posting. You might as well just get two litres of White Lightning to make the evening complete then.

That's a bloody shame, commiserations. I quite fancy what you were going to cook. Want me for the evening, and we can chuck your missus a cinema ticket :p?
