Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - MATX motherboard ?

okay so ive been looking at this cooler to replace my nearly one year old stock intel cooler. what i like about it is that i wont have to take the motherboard out to attach it and it uses what the old cooler does (push pins) so there shouldnt be any problem there. but do you have to take the motherboard out of case . its not problem but just an minor gripe. Also is it so big that it wont fit properly on my mobo: http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1123&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170

as you can see the mobo power connectors are in a different position then usual. so will it be able to fit properly.

im not definatly getting this but as its so cheap im thinking why not.

The Frezer 7 Pro is an excellent choice. No you dont need to take out the motherboard, the pins are quiet easy to push in, and there doesn't seem like there'd be a problem with it fitting.

The only problem is that you may have to push quite hard to get the pegs in lock in the hole, I did on one of them so you might need your hand on the back or you risk cracking the board.
The good thing with Freezerpro is that unlike the stock cooler the fan can point straight to the back of the case directly inline with the 120mm instead of blowing hot air at the side panel direction & hence adding heat to the case

thanks guys, will hold the board best as possible then. no problem with the power connectors then? dont want it to block the 24pin power and 4 pin power. oh and its actually a 120mm fan if thats what you meant.

oh and what thermal paste do you guys recommend. only got the bog standard intel stuff under the stock hsf right now. i guess im going to have clean the gunk off pretty bad. what do you guys recommend for cleaning the old stuff off and putting on new stuff (though some reviews ive read state there is some sort of heat tape ? what is this ?)

I used the Freezerpro stuff, seems to be o.k. for me, Core Temp shows average 26c for idle & 45c when playing Crysis

Akasa's equivalent, the 965 uses a similar design but is cheaper and more efficient than the Freezer Pro as shown here:

I'm using one myself to cool my 3.2ghz E2180 at less than 50C load and 30C idle and can't recommend it enough.

Oh, both the Freezer Pro and Akasa come with pre applied (decent quality) thermal paste, so you don't need to add your own.

I bought one of those a couple of weeks ago for a cheap dual core system I was setting up. Installation was simple and the quality seems good.
