Hey guys, i previously posted asking for some help with speccing and i appreciate all your answers a lot. However i teamed up with a guy who knows a lot computers, some pc builder or something or other, and we came up with this:

Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black Screen £199.74

XFX nForce 780i SLI (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard Motherboard £159.79

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB) £52.86

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £145.69

OcUK GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £328.99

Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £46.99

Antec Nine Hundred £76.36

Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU £64.61

Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) £42.29

Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset + Call Of Juarez Bundle £28.19
£1,145.51

Any Thoughts??

looks good :) after your knock the dent out of your credit card you can grab another 9800GX2 thanks to the sli capability of the 780i chipset.

Looks fine although I'd argue that PC8500 is overkill for a Q6600 (or any 1066mhz FSB CPU) unless you are doing some pretty hefty overclocking. You could get 4gb of decent PC6400 for about £10 more or go with 2gb for about £20 less.

can u recommend me a brand/type. e,g G.Skill or something Oh and i will be overclocking, but by how much is yet to be decided :P:P

if i was spending over a grand i'd want a 45nm (aka new tech) chip.

there's no point in buying an sli board if you're not planning on adding another GX2 at a later date.

if i was going to change it to say a Q9450 with a p35 MB, would a Asus P5K Premium do the job? Bit to much money though i think

Sure, this G.Skill PC6400 PQ is a good price and seems to perform quite well. At stock speeds it should be good for up to 3.6ghz (400mhz and the 9x multiplier of the Q6600), if you are going beyond that then you've probably got very good cooling and a good chip.

Agree with that, I did same mistake :(

Also 780 is not worth it unless you plan a 3way Sli, if you want nforce go with 680. I have Evga 680 with latest P32 Bios and no complaints

I would check forums for issues with 9800X2 drivers, I know when I got 8800GTX Nvidia took a quite while to get them running properly. Hard for first few months but now I am a happy bunny.

Yeah, my q6600 only needs 450FSB to hit 4GHz and any decent pc6400 should cope with that fine.

Ok sounds like i should change my motherboard :) I have heard about driver issues, but nVidia are working on it and heck, i can wait :P Oh and i will probably also be changing my Ram. Unless i change to a Q9450 then maybe not

680 is old tech, and 3 way sli is pointless

x38 + HD 3870 X2
or
780i + 9800 GX2

Both have a decent upgrade path for dual pci-e 2 cards and the latest 45nm chips.

Go with X38 mobo, Gigabyte has some great models...

Q9450 for the CPU

2x2GB RAM

And wait for the new nvidia cards before buying a high end graphics card. 9800GX2 is really not that good
