Need some help before my GF kills me! Forum buddies, please help!

Ok my GF has been driving me mad about going on holiday with her. I finally agree and get it into my head that were going togther and now shes all upset, confused etc because she's not going to have as much money as she expected! I told her id pay, not an option. I told her id lend it her, not an option! Woman huh! :(

Now were looking for a nice 4star+ all inclusive hotel somewhere hot and on the beach including flights. The original budget was £1000 for the two of us. It is now £600!! Originally i was looking at Marocco but i dont think its going to happen at that price.

I am going crazy looking around and speaking to travel agents and browsing the million and one crappy looking websites to see if i can find anything. And i dont seem to be getting anywhere!

I would love it if someone could give me some advice, or even better, spec me an exact holiday!

We want to go away on the 10th on June or as soon after that as possible but not before and its for 7 nights. Needs to be from a Midlands airport.

If you can help, and you live close by, im come give you a hug if you find a perfect holiday for me!! :p

i had a budget of 600 for a holiday, for one week, for the two of us, and i couldnt spec anywere decent at that price :(
 
You will seriously struggle if you really expect to get 4 star AI for that. In fact you may be lucky to pay that per person.
 
There's a widely-held belief amongst many holidaymakers that all inclusive is cheap. Why ever would it be? It's ALL your drink and ALL your food included - if the hotel is anything approaching semi decent and it isn't off peak season AI should never be cheap, and if it is, alarm bells should be ringing.
 
Why dont you jump in a car and drive down to the south of france. there are some beautiful area's down there. If you felt wild you could camp a different place every night, or just find a cheap hotel/notel somewhere.

Thats not true. AI isnt all your drinks mate its crappy soft drinks, and if you want anything decent, thats where decent money comes into play.

It is true.

I used to be a travel agent.

I have never been to or sold an AI hotel where you have to pay for "anything decent" whatever that means. Most AI hotels will serve locally produced drinks rather than brand name stuff, that is quite normal in a lot of AI chains.

The majority of AI hotel bars don't even have a till, you couldn't pay if you wanted to!

That depends on where you go. Some places have beer taps etc... included although I guess if your looking for expensive drinks you may be a little screwed. As the person you quoted says it all depends on how much your willing to pay.
 
just a word of advice, but the euro is so strong at the moment that going to a lot of places in europe isn't so cheap. one of the best deals i've seen and or known about recently is AI in the dominican republic, as it'll cost you bugger all when you get there

Yep, AI in Greece is generally uncommon and expensive. Personally I think dining out is one of the main attractions of Greece so I wouldn't recommend it as an AI destination.

As B@Th*ng rightly points out, Dom Rep is a worthwhile gamble (the weather can be very unpredictable, torrential rain one second then blazing sun) at this time of year.
 
ME and the gf went to Gran Canaria for £480, yes it was basic but its what you make it. Needless to say it was crap. Don't go with your gf.

Ah i understand i meant anything decent like, branded liqueurs, spirits etc!

Yeah, like I say it depends on the hotel. The better AI chains won't even have a till to take money off you.

When we stayed in a RIU in the Dom Rep everything was free right down to the minibar in the room. Okay, so it's locally produced rum, but hey rum is rum especially when it's free and there's limitless supplies of the stuff :D
 
We apid £1600 AI for Cuba, 5*. ALL drinks, 24 hour food, access to a ridiculous amount of restaurants to choose from. Even the fridge in our room got beer in it eveyday as well as 2l of bottled water and fruit juice. We were out and about on night, 4am we both got a nice big Pizza freshly cooked and beers to go with it. Even windurfers were available free as well as lasers (boats, not ray gons :p), snorkels, Catermaran rides - it was literally ALL included. Add in that Champagne was also covered and I cannot see how we could have been better off self-catering/B&B. £400per person per week to have a 5* hotel, all your food and all your beer is cheaper than I did Ibiza room only 2*!!!
