Hi all,

Well I’ve been in and out of the idea of selling my pc and going full Mac (laptop)

My current spec is

Coolermaster stacker case
Enermax Liberty 650w (not even a year old yet)
2GIG OCZ RAM – Dual Channel
AMD Athlon dual core 4800+
X1900 – ATI
X1900 XTX – Crossfire – ATI
Asus Motherboard (939) can’t remember what model (ill post asap)
Saitek Eclipse keyboard

The main reason for me trying to decide is that I don’t play many games on the PC anymore as ive started a new job role & don’t get the time to play much, & when I do get time I either get quite bored or just browse the internet & forums.
I do already have a Powerbook G4 but its old technology now (And my father uses this more than I do) & also as i used to play games a lot! my Steam folder is huge!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

1) Any idea what £££ i would get for that system i currently own?

2) how well does bootcamp? work ? e.g. windows etc

3) can i play games ok on a mac ? (never tried) incase i wanna play a game of TFC2 etc

4) how good are the battries?

5) i think the new Imac is sexy :P

1) No idea
2) It's the same as running Windows on a PC
3) Yes. Don't kid yourself it'll play Crysis in 1920x1200 maxxed out tho. I find the usual lan party stuff like UT3 and latest C&C run fine.
4) Batteries. I got around 3.5hrs of normal usage out of my MBP when new.After two years of heavy use I still get around in hour. Current models should be better as they have lower wattage bits in them.
5) Yes. Get the 24" as the Alu look 20" has a crap TN screen with dithering.
 
1)Okay thanks for that! so would that be Crysis in windows mode? or direct osx mode?

2) what laptop would be worth getting? MBP?

3) so as it can run crysis ill have no probs running HL2 / & others?
 
If you want a valuation on your current hardware check out the price checks forum in MM

You can only run Windows games in Windows, they won't run in Mac OSX unless they are Mac OSX versions or Dual OS games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft II etc

If you want to play games it would have to be the MBP as it has a proper GPU

Should run HL2 related games easy enough, not sure about Crysis though maybe at lowish settings
