Yeah it looks brilliant in the flesh - very very similar to a Macbook.

It came to £415 shipped - they had some very decent discounts on Vostros last month, glad I picked one up as they're not even on the site at the moment.

Just bought my first laptop, decent price i think although i would have liked the screen upgrade, i couldnt justify another 100 quid.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ1M. About two years old now and a bit dirty, but IMO still as nice as anything else on the market.

Nice mini-note! If I get one, I would wait for the hardware refresh, which may contain the new Intel atom processors, HP said they will probably do this in 6 months depending on demand for a new processor.

It's a shame that the mini note looks 1000x better than the EEEPC, but the EEEPC still wins performance wise. :( To put a via processor in a HP mini note is a crime!
 
I don't understand why HP chose to increase the profile of that Mini-Note laptop by about an inch with those panel speakers. It's completely redundant. Either reduce the laptop size, or increase the TFT size. You see the same thing on the Asus Eee laptops.
 
In the basis of those pics (i've not seen one in the flesh) the MiniNote's build quality looks dodgy.

What's the VIA cpu like? Enough power for streaming media?

Its built like a tank....made of aluminium like a mini macbook pro.


I dont know what all the fuss is about with regards the cpu its runs fine ...No problems here.

It's not fuss its just unfamiliarity. If it had a Core2Solo equivalent to a P4 3ghz, I have a reference for that, i'm familiar with the power available. The VIA is an unknown - what are your real world experiences? Does it decode streamed media both over the internet and (w)LAN? Boot times etc? We need more info!! :D
