Sony Australia: PS3 outsold 360 by 45% in Q1

Oz pop 15 million 10 million of them live in the "outback" with no leccy so hardly a major market for sony or microsoft.

I couldn't care less who sells more, competition just means more and more excellent games for us to play

Grab both consoles and enjoy the next few years

you know why they sold more? cuz ps3s are ******* loads better these days thats why! cut through all the fanboy beating-around-the-bush crap and say it as it is!

i have played both extensively but own the PS3... the 360 used to be better but it just isn't anymore so get used to it guys!

2/3 of aussies live in the outback ffs? i've heard some stupid excuses for the PS3 taking over but good god...

And the majority of PS3 owners are teenagers. Judging from Quicksilver's grammar and spelling, he certainly fits into that category.

Posting rubbish like he has is just daft, there is no reasoning behind it, or explanation.

hehe i did have a bit of a rant but thats also a stupid post... i would have said the majority of console owners worldwide are teens/early twenties...

there was nothing wrong with my grammar and spelling except maybe the "cuz" for which i do apologise, and no, i'm 25.

but you're right there is no reasoning behind me having a rant, i just fancied it after a stressful morning ;)

(however, i have now become one of the posters i can't stand by defending the ps3 so i'm gonna drop it...)

Please close now mods, these threads never turn into the enlightened 'discussion' that the posters intend (after all they wouldn't be looking for a fanboy argument would they?)

Its actually between 20-21 million people and most people live around the coast of Australia.
And most people have Electricity too.

And it doesnt Suprise me since GTA sold more on the PS3 then the 360 down here aswell.
The GTA and GT5p packs is probably what did it.

It has always been inevitable that the PS3 would outsell the 360 in this generation, their userbase for the PS2 was just so vast and the majority will move on to the obvious choice for them - the PS3. Next generation will be much more interesting, with Microsoft gaining a huge share in the market this time around compared to the rather poor sales of the original Xbox, but then, this has been the plan from the start for MS.

People seem to forget that Streeteh. Microsoft always said that there 2nd console (the 360) would be the big test, for which I'd certainly say it's passed on user base sales, those sales would have course have been higher had they not screwed up on the reliability front, something that was never leveled at the original XBox, so that's a shame.

I fully expect MS's next console to be a monster, they have the system in place with features that Sony are still playing catch up on such as Friends, Messaging, Achievements, Matchmaking and all that other social stuff, if they develop that further then the next console could be phenomenal.

I said before the PS3 and I really hope it's the case for the PS4, Sony need to outsource the development of the software and dev boxes to the West and have us develop the system tools and features for designers, it will be implemented faster, better and have much more features.

I dont think it will, if the 360 had been reliable I'd agree with you. Sadly it hasn't and it will have turned plenty of customers off and made plenty like myself refrain from buying their next console. It stayed expensive far too long when they should have been looking to cut the price and really make in roads into the sony dominance of the market.

As for australia I think i've only ever played one aussie on xbl in the years I've had the 360.
