Finished School

GCSEs are still vital for certain jobs, the entire of the armed forces (bar specifically infantry roles) require them regardless of your A-Level grades or your degree.

So, you guys do 4 years at high school(GCSE), then another 2 years at a separate school(A Levels) then Uni? We just do 4(Standard Grade) to 6(Highers) years at the same high school.

Yes thats right, the a levels are sometimes done at a 6th form college which is seperate from a high school, some high schools have 6th forms.

No not all of us. Some schools have 6th form, which means taking AS and A2s in the same school you got your GCSEs in.

There are also colleges, which mainly cater for AS/A2 levels, GCSE retakes and from what I've seen a pretty large amount of adult/evening classes.

Basically GCSE's are a stepping stone to higher things. This means they're very important to get you to that next level (obviously) but once you have started doing your A-levels, they become quite a bit less important. Then your A-levels are a stepping stone to Uni (or a job) so are even more important.....until you get to the next stage and their importance becomes less....

and so on.

Ye ye i spelt porshce wrong, so what, stop acting like 3 year olds and post something related to the thread please.

Sinque dam you i got 7 exams left but they are spead out, which i suppose is a good thing.

Its a big change in my life right now.

You spelt Porsche wrong again. :p I have 13 exams left, 7 in 5 days after half term :(

All my teachers say that gcses are really important and play a part in the rest of your life, do you agree?

No, after the next step (A levels/ college qualifications) they count for very little.

I have 13 exams left, 7 in 5 days after half term :(

I have 15 left totalling, 23 and a half hours, 6 already done (8 and a half hours) . Do I win?

GCSE's mean naff all after getting into college.

I hated school so much i have nightmares about being back now even in my late 20's, loved college and utterly detested uni.

Had my last Standard Grade (GSCE) exam today :)
Looking forward to dropping all the crap subjects I took last year and getting a change.

Dam scythe that a bit of a tight schedule, it aint fair when they cram exams, im sure they do it for a reason , dont exams have like a last date 30th june, it would be better if they spead them out a bit more.

I only have two days where i have two exams in.

Correct me if im wrong but why does it matter if you get b's at as level? Thoght unis were more bothered about a levels?

Your AS levels are half your A2 grade.

So if you get an E at AS you'll have to work sodding hard to get an A at A2. Actually it'd be impossible, even if you got 100% it would average out as a C.

What they actually do is just add your marks together, 300 marks for AS and 300 for A2 (I think it's 300 anyway :p)

Finished today myself as well, very glad :)

Got 5 more exams to go and then it's all over.... should have a nice string of As, A*s, and one or two of B/Cs to go with it :)

Yeah it is 300. Marks are a lot easier to get at AS as well (well after you've done the whole course they are)

With a bottom E at AS, you could get a B overall, if you got 100% in all of your A2 exams :p
