Which New Mustang ?

The pics looks nice, but it almost seems to have too much going on, I think you've hit perfection on a Mustang when you see/have seen Gibbo's old Mustang (S281E I believe?)

how much these cost to run? how is the insurance :o

running costs arent that bad

being big american V8s, their low tech and built to last. But being big american V8s they cost a bomb to fuel.

The only killer might be the insurance, as they're american imports. But you could probably insure it with a decent specialist broken for typical high performance car money.

They certiantly wont be anything like Ferrari owning costs despite very much having ferarri performance in a straight line.

mmmm mustangs:)

was just looking at reviews for mustangs, and came across one by jeremy clarkson, he goes a VW would be more better than a Mustang in uk lol:o

He kind of dissed it a lot too..:(

thing is, the standard mustang is crap, and even the americans know it. Which is why there are so many companies producing their own version of it. Think about how many people there are producing their own bits (not reselling) for Fords over here.

Not nearly as many as there are Ford tuners over there.

Thats why nearly everybody here would have a Saleen / Roush, because the tuned product is so different from a standard GT mustang.

I almost undertook a pretty good looking Police Mustang last weekend. Didn't see it was a Police car until I got to the rear quarter panel and could see the white liveried door. It had no lights on top and the aerials were hidden ones.

Luckily I slowed in time to coast alongside and didn't get pulled over :D

Clarkson always slates American cars also, then will catagorically about face and write a glowing review of usually the same car, somewhere else. So I wouldn't take it for much, if anything.

And yea, the base model Mustangs are pretty sucky but they're designed to be and fantastically cheap as a result :)

What do you expect with a starting price of $19,000? Only reason other companies tune it is because of the tuneable engine/chassic and mainly its legacy, not because its crap. Yes its rubbish compared to Roush's etc but I wouldnt expect much from a car which costs so little stock.

ts not a criticism, as you say the standard mustang GT is very cheap and this reflects in the product you got.

I was just warning the poster who was put off by clarksons negative reviews. Top gear (specificly clarkson) have always been anti american. Its also at an editorial level as wel. To call the live rear axle setup "questionable and dangerous" is a bit extreme.

I'm not put off by the negative top gear reviews, because as ive already said, they were reviewing the standard GT product which is a completely different animal to something like the Roush. And also, there is always some sort of editorial bias against american cars on top gear.

To be fair though, as the 5th gear review of the Shelby GT500 said. At the US price, the poor handling of the Shelby GT500 and its live rear axle could probably be excused, its just unfortunate that by the time you get it over here, pay import duties, VAT, get it UK legal etc.. etc.. it ends up costing Porsche money instead of Corsa VXR money.
