Bungee cable?

Hi all,

Im planning on getting a new Graphics card soon and at present it will not fit my case. I need to remove the hard drive cage and plan to put them in the floppy disk section. I've seen a few pics of people using bungee cord so would like to do the same.

Can anyone point me into the direction of any decent stuff, I image it needs to be quite thin (but strong) to give good support on the drives.

I know it sounds silly, 'spec me some bungee cable', but this will be my first mod of this kind so if you've had any experience using the stuff in this way please post any suggestions :)

Thanks

What? o.O

You suspend your hard drive from an elasticated material, so what it doesn't vibrate against the case, so it makes less noise.

if i were you i'd ram your post and ask for it to be moved to the HDD forum, you'll probably have more luck there.

You cant bungee it in the floppy disk section, only in the 5.25" bays. You can bolt the drive into the 3.5" section though. Any bungee will do. Cable tie it to the cages to keep it in place. I used 3mm cord.

have a look at the bungee cords with the hooks on that people use to strap things down with.

then get some P clips (think thats what there called), screw them to the drive cages and feed the bungee cord thru them.

google for :

Aphonos' Dual HDD Bungee-cord Suspension

Thanks guys,

I have some bungee cord now on order (3mm). Will let you know how I get on...

I'm not doing it for noise reasons. ATM I cant fit a large card in due to the size of my case so I hope to remove the HDD cage and put the HDD some place else ;)

I just used some elastic tape that the Girlfriend had in her sewing kit. tied with knots to the side of the HD cage, its still working fine 3 years later as that case now contains her PC

might be worth having a look in the case forum as well then, as i'm sure people had to remove the drive cage when the 8800gtx's came out.

I am going to mount it in the CD bay as I have around 6 bays free. I think the pics I've seen of other bungee mods have had people use this area. Fingers crossed :)
