Boxter 3.2S or Z4 3.0?

Yes, in the same way that somebody who wants to buy a washing machine wont buy a fridge - they are different cars for different demographics!

some people dont buy cars for their useability

some people buy on status, etc

for example my dad currently cant choose between a 6 series convertible or a range rover sport

both are completely different cars - one is a sports convertible the other is a sports 4x4

so therefore someone who is in the market for a 911 may just buy a boxster

so you cant compare demographics or whatever because not everybody buys according to that - for example some rich guy asks his wife what car she wants - she says a porsche - when he strolls into the dealer - he could buy either and although he could afford the "proper" 911 he may just buy her a boxster

yes except you said it after somebody had already told us they did exactly that lol. thats probably where the confusion lies.

plus fox's analogy doesnt quite work

of course nobody will buy a washing machine if their looking for a fridge

but someone may buy a fridge freezer instead of a just a fridger

or they may just buy a drinks cooler instead of a fridge

therefore when someone is buying a car

they may choose to buy a 35K sports car or a 90K sports car

i know a guy who just sold his ferrari after owning it for only 3 months to buy a jaguar - completely different

so therefore your logic is flawed fox

There is an exception to every rule - we can only speak generally. On the whole, and as a result the way Porsche's marketing and product design is targeted, you dont tend to buy one simply becuase you cant afford the other.

MOST people wont go 'ooh I cant decide whether to spend £90k or £35k'. Sure some will but they are in the minority. It's the same as saying BMW 3 Series are for lesbians with one arm simply becuase of the 3 Series ownership circle, a few are one armed lesbians :p

you should change your analogy then to

you dont go and buy a fridge freezer when your looking for a drinks cooler

they both serve the same sort of purpose

whereas a fridge and washing machine dont

nail on the head m8, my managing director has just changed his Cayenne Turbo S for a 911 Turbo (997) 2 completely different vehicles imo but as you say more for status than purpose.

if it were my money m8 id have the Z4 and im pretty sure the servicing costs on the Porsche are a fair bit higher

You can pick holes in analogies all you want - the point remains the same, the Boxster is not a poor mans 911.

yeh - the boxster is just a different type of porsche for a different sort of market but it can be placed within the same market as other porsches

the analogy is completely wrong not just flawed

its like saying you dont go and buy a crop sprayer when your looking for license plates

both arent related whatsoever

whereas a boxster and a 911 are - they are both cars made by the same manufacturer

Yes, quite clearly from my posts in this thread I am singing from the same hymn sheet obviously

quote the whole sentence fox, it makes sense you know...

you believe that people with money wont buy a 525 mid spec, they would buy a 530 with every option ticked as a minimum.
meaning what i said is true about you.

And that has what to do with weather a Boxster is a poor mans Porsche

blind? or just argumentative?

read what i was quoting, it adds context. failing that, just keep picking at things without really thinking.

read what i was quoting

I did - it was completely pointless (no surprise from yourself). Your mention of me in your post served zero purpose, brought nothing to the table and had no possible outcome bar an argument.

Congrats, you rule at the internet, etc.

no surprise because i dont have a 530d, i only have a 306 cab, i know you look down on me fox, dont worry :]

only outcome being an argument because you cannot do anything other than argue when you dont like something that is mentioned about you.
i was stating that tommy isnt the only one to think that people with money only buy the best of the best of the best.

If it served no purpose, ignore it, why argue it? if its pointless, why not just let it go?
