Zafira VXR?

back to the case in hand, there can be a point to MPVs, they are dead easy to load up and even to get into because of the height

i can't believe people are comparing a monaro to a zafira..

no i made a point that just because its a vauxhall badge doesnt mean its crap

and frankly id rate Evo's oppinions over the Vectra VXR over just about most people on this forum.

Well go and buy one then - nobody else has driven one becuase the Vauxhall VXR range is one of the most difficult things to drive in the entire world. Only a handful of dealers have demonstrators and buyers are expected to buy cars they've never driven. It's as if Vauxhall dont want people to drive them before they pay for them...

someone on here has a VXR estate, or his/her father does, iirc
cba to search, but it was in a thread about flat tyres i think :p
they posted a picture and everything, it did look quite smart in that blue with those monster wheels tho in all fairness :o

Now they are pointless. The size of a corsa, the shape of an MPV

better access than a corsa though, so for people who need something a little higher up but dont want to go buying anything massive, its a good choice.

Surely it's just a poor man's Zafira?

nah the old dears with arthritus love it

Not too big that they cant park it and have 7 seats that they dont need

but it makes it easier for the old dears to get in and out

Guarantee you the ownership demographic of the average Meriva driver has to be 50 +

I got caught behind a Meriva VXR the other day and seriously, out loud I said wtf? It had big alloys and smoked lenses, dark windows, and the road presence of a gerbil in a bomber jacket.
Utterly cynical marketing exercise designed to cash in on beaten husbands, and they go for it. Sad sacks.

EDIT - Just read MrLOL's post. No way are there 7 seats in that! It was the size of a tall Metro!

The Zafira VXR is a hoot to drive and corners better than you would think. MPV's don't have to be slow.

Having done a second VXR trackday the Vectra isn't so bad either. I was very critical of it last year. Yes it will understeer terribly if you mash the pedal to the floor with a lot of steering on but then so will any FWD turbocharged car with a heavy V6 engine slung over the front axle and 280bhp running through the front wheels. You just have to watch your entry speed into the corners and not get hard on the power too quickly. Once you've tamed it you can hustle it around very rapidly.

I still have nightmares about the Meriva 1.4 Life I had for 2 days :(

I went through a period of being only able to get Meriva's from National, the worse one i had was the 1.4, truly awefull car, brakes were damn right dangerous, and bout was that car fun in high winds, cheeky ****'s had the gall to name it the 1.4 Enjoy.

bad wording on my part, i said the mervia was ideal for old dears because its not too big and have 7 seats

I used the negative "not" referring to the big, and meant it regarding not having 7 seats as well, but when you read it, it just reads like its not too big and its got 7 seats too..

which is of course wrong its got 5.
