Kind of a Bargain - 360 HD-DVD with remote

If it's 2 x Blu-Ray for £13 each or two HD-DVD's and a player for £26 then it doesn't matter which you buy, then you could pick up some more films for half the price of the Blu-Ray now.

A 10p VHS player is a bargain, I still wouldn't touch it with a 12 foot barge pole. Spending £300 on a PS3 is a far better purchasing decision than spending £20 on obsolete, redundant tech.

Not at all, because unlike VHS, HD-DVD is comparible with the £300 PS3's Blu-Ray in EVERY SINGLE WAY, so £20 is an absolute bargain. It's not a good bargain of course if:

a) You don't like movies
b) You prefer poor pictures
c) You don't like movie extras
d) You prefer lesser sound
e) You don't like free stuff

You can only watch what films are out now, its not as if you can do anything with it in the future, tis a good price still but as said above a dead format that you can't get any new films on.

Because the 100+ movies that are out aren't enough?

Let us not forget recent films such as Stardust and Transformers are on HD-DVD, so it's not like you're stuck with old films. Watching all these in HD has got to be worth £20 for the player, which as said, with remote and 2 movies is basically FREE.

how come HD-DVD is dead anyway ? it was 'Blueray vs HD-DVD' at one point, both being basically the same, so how come HD-DVD has died and not blue ray ?

(i havnt really checked much for last couple of months so my knowledge is down :p)

The companies supporting HD-DVD pulled out. Then it was game over.

I love my HD-DVD player, and i payed the full amount. I used to collect DVDs and buy one nearly every week, but i swore i wouldn't do it with HD. I only have a handfull of titles but they are keepers.

There are loads of great films out there to choose from. Its a bargain.

cheaper in a lot of cases than their SD counterparts, i'm going to get about 8 or so next payday, films i've been meaning to get but can now justify them at £5 each ^^

Its a good price and a bargain for what your getting, but i would have a few reservations. First of all, like others have said HD DVDs are very cheap to buy at the moment and have a nice collection available, but I wouldnt want to spend money on HDDVDs if in the future i was intending to buy Blu-Ray, as i wouldnt want to keep wheeling out my old HD player to play some old film that in a year or so times will be as cheap to get on BD. Also what happens in a couple of years down the road if the HD Drive breaks? Could you get a replacement player? If not you're left with a pile of unplayable HDDVDs only good enough to sell on the bay. I know for now its a good deal, but i get the feeling that it will be a waste of money in the future buying loads of HDDVDs.

I bought 4 films just 2 weeks ago from a high street music store for just £5 each. Can't beat that tbh. I've been re-watching my hd-dvd collection this weekend and forgot how stunning the format could be when it comes to extended features. U-Control f t w!

So far myself and thee colleagues have bought one of these just for the remote. Gonna stick some HD discs on my lovefilm account as I don't see the value in buying discs I'll probably never watch again.

Well worth the 20 quid IMO

I found one deal but it wasn't with a remote, hd player and 3 films for £29.99, would appreciate a email if thats allowed.
