Hey guys,

I see quite a few pics on there every now and then taken inside abandoned buildings. Is there every a legitimate way to get inside or do you all sneak in under tape?

Would anything serious ever happen if you got caught? Other than a slap on the wrist :)

There's a couple of local places, which are completely empty and there's never anyone about... So quite tempted to take a looky :D

I think the thing to keep in mind is that you are trespassing. Under English law I believe that if you're caught you should be asked to leave and then if you do not then they are allowed to call the police.

I think worst case scenario you would be served with a notice stating that you are not allowed back on the premises and will be arrested if you do so. As far as I know you wouldn't get a criminal record. I'd check first tho.

also remember your personal saftey not just injury but contaminated sites like asbestos etc... some are derelict for a reason.

Trespassing is a civil matter, provided you dont have the intention to steal/injure/damage you will have no bother from the police (unless they come to kick you out)

I would be too damn scared to go in one incase a bunch of crackheads and pedo's lived in there! :p

This is my main hobby (if you can call it a hobby :p) and visit such places most weekends. With some sites you can just Hi-Viz-Ninja it, obviously this doesnt work on sites with security! I personally always take a P3 mask with me, just incase there is asbestos/pigeon poo laying around, I would also reccomend wearing gloves! My main advice though is to always have your wits about you and use common sense, if that wooden floor looks a bit flaky then it probably is :p

They are not all of my photos by any means, just what I have laying around in my Photobucket account.

Good shout about the gloves etc... Hi Viz could be a good idea, sneaky :)

So jumping though an open window should be ok. Gr4ig I notice you have some pictures of giant halls etc... So you just snuck in and started snapping away?? No force of entry required?

Where do you find out about such places? or do you just drive around keeping an eye out?

Some sites you can just walk straight in, others can require abseiling & SRT equipment, waders, and the cover of darkness :p I have never "forced" entry to a site though. Culverts & Cranes are my "thing" at the moment!

How do I find out about such places? Drive/walk around and keep my eyes open, also urban exploration forums give you lots of information.

Too right. Don't want to fall into any of those hypodermics...

What would a paedo want with you anyway? You're too old :p

I was in London over the weekend and opposite my cousin's house is a block of flats "Currie House" which is abandoned due to be demolished IIRC - it's completely empty with the odd few windows broken and several others fire damaged

I snuck in through the front and managed to find an entry point where someone had bent the metal blockade on a lower window to get in,I peered in and noticed it was an empty living room and the door was creepily banging slowly and it was eerily dark.

There's no way I'd venture in there without a Falcon Punch ready or at the least a 2nd pair of hands just in case there's druggies in there or squatters making out or a secret dogging ring or something.

I will have to find something a bit more local and have company with me too for safety reasons :p

Edit, just spoke to a mate who is a bouncer in Chichester, I'm shooting his wedding soon and mentioned urbex and he mentioned there's a mental asylum near him that I can shoot. Going to meet up over the weekend so stay tuned!

depends who you meet in there, and what you have with you. if you damage summit then it's breaking and entering and that'll get you in trouble. if you take tools with you, you are 'going equipped'.

Looking at your location, sevs shouldn't be far from you.. :D

I actually live in myland so it's literally 15mins walk, might have a wander around the outside and see what shots I can get :)

Just need a big flash light, as fancy doing some "painting with light" pics.

PS. Anyone who has done this, have you had any encounters with angry landowners? or bumped into anyone else?

careful where you shine a big flash light, you'll be advertising your prescence

and yes have bumped into security (and dogs), and other people in places.

He could be desperate :p and I have a rather finely toned arse if you don't mind! :p
