Do You Ever Replay Completed Games?

I've hit a bit of a brickwall with GTA4. I feel i'm having to force myself to play it and it's not as fun as it was at first. So since i'm off work this week, i thought i'd look through my games but nearly all of them i have completed. In example COD4, Bioshock, Uncharted, Mass Effect are just to name a few.

The thing is, as much as i enjoyed those titles (plus the others). I have absolutely no desire to return to them and it makes me wonder why i keep them but that's for another thread one day. :D

Do you ever return to your completed games and what makes you want to?

Baldurs Gate 2 - Several times, finding different paths with different characters
KOTOR - Just an Excellent game, can play multiple times with different partys and it still feels fresh
Fable - Shame its just too short
FFX
FFVIII

Can you see the trend developing here :) If a big RPG grabs my attention enough to spend 60+ hours completing it the first time its usually worth at least a second play through.

Exception being any PES game which I must have completed master league several hundred times with different teams

I would normally say never but due to the boredom of GTA4 I am currently playing through Uncharted again :)

I completed last year, and have to say I'm enjoying it more this time round than I did when I first completed it.

Nope. I tend to go back to games that offer a "Free Roam" mode or "Pick up and Play" games (Sports, Driving). For example, Ive played Bioshock on the hardest difficulty, got all the achievements so would never really play it again. Not sure why i have still got it, but meh

I very rarely go through games twice unless there is some sort of bonus such as getting the bandana/stealth on MGS or unlocking the rocket launcher on Res Evil.

Can't actually recall ever completing a game more than once.

I've gladly doen the same thing over and over again on MMORPGs though.

Hats off to you mate. I invested 120+ hours over the 360 and PS3 versions of Oblivion (plus addons) and even the thought of restarting that would reduce me to tears :D

It was actually Uncharted that got me thinking about games and their re playability. Watching my mate play Uncharted the other night for his first time and seeing again how good it is. Made me consider it and of all my games, it's got the highest chance of me returning to it :)

I go back to lots of games. Just this week I went back to my old playstation games and have started replaying them, mainly for nostalgia.

However I cant tell you how many times I beat MGS1.

There is something about playing really old games that I just cannot do. It feels weird.

It's almost as though I don't like doing it because I know that other people did it ages ago.

For example, I never played Zelda: OoT other than the odd play at a friends house. I could easily buy a cheap N64 and play it now, but it would feel weird. Like I am playing it too late. I can't explain it :(

I've played through Oblivion on the 360 about 3 times now. 1st time I spent 50odd hours on it, 2nd time was 90+ hours, 3rd time I'm only part way through and already spent 30 hours.

rarely. I did used to hammer Goldeneye, MGS1 and Super Smash Brothers though.

If i get bored with a particular game I tend to play FIFA or Tiger Woods

^ Cant really help but restart Dead rising :)

Right now im playing through HL2 on 360 after finishing it at launch on PC. Oddly I dont rem some bits.

rarely, it has to be a really something special for me to complete it multiple times.. but then i rarely watch films twice either.

there has to be some incentive for me to complete it again, eg unlocks, or a harder setting etc.

I do have my retro moments where I get out my Megadrive or SNES and replay games such as Donkey Country 2 and the Sonic series. Lost count how many times Ive completed Sonic 2 and Super Castlevania 4......

Not amazingly often, but it depends on how good the game is and how much it captivated me.

FFVII
Fable
Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)
Half Life 2

Those are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

I'd like to play through Uncharted again, but I'm strapped for time and have other new games sitting there aching for me to play :p
