There is a thread running here (now closed) about Jews and theme parks. After reading some of the "humorous" posts I now feel quite sick and alienated.

I have always felt that this forum ( GD in particular) was my local. Now I feel that my local has a small group of racists standing by the bar and telling holocaust "jokes"

My family members who died at the hands of the nazis would really have chuckled at some of the posts. I dont want this to degenerate into a load of posts about Jews, Israel, Palestine etc. I have always supported Palestinian equal rights and self-determination even though I have close associations with Israel.

I'm off.:confused:
 
Some members are opinionated, some are immature, some don't think before they speak.

Its life, get over it!!
 
I don't understand how Jewish jokes are racist? Jews aren't a race?

Some of those were sailing close to the wind, but this country has always had a reputation for taking the pee out of even the worst situations or happenings. You only have to look at the jokes that pop up minutes after some celebrity or royal family member has died in some horrible manner.

If the jokes are borne of hatred towards one particular group then obviously that's not on, but otherwise I don't see the harm in poking fun at religion/wars etc. Holocaust is obviously a step too far though.
 
The OP has a point, there are some rather dubious posts regarding race issues stange considering the rather obvious business link the forums have.

You completely misunderstand what happens on the forums don't you?

The vast majority of posts on these forums about rage, religion etc. are not racist abuse, they are banter. It isn't PC, granted, but who cares about being PC? The people who do, really need to calm down, and realise that there's more to life than taking offense.

True, but come on. Making jokes about the holocaust is in pretty bad taste.

That just isn't funny at all.
 
Some people here seem to be missing the point, the forums are a tool to promote a business, why you would risk allowing something that may upset customers and potential customers is very strange.

Because potential customers are more likely to be in the hardware forums.

Also, if you're stupid enough to not buy your hardware from pretty much the cheapest place around, because someone said something about jews likeing theme parks, then you're a fool, and it's your loss.
