these pcitures do indeed upset me, my brother has downs syndrome, and seeing pictures of others being mocked is upsetting to say the least..but then again, those people have to live with the thought they are mocking a disabled person, who didnt choose to be like that..grow up please.
More importantly, who the hell setup the picture?! thats such a random situation that its clearly been staged for the very purpose...

another point, this is a family forum, and a respected one at that, why is such behaviour allowed?....yes this has rattled my cage, i wouldnt like it if my brother was treated like this, and i dont care if its a picture, or whatever.

people would laugh at that picture even if she wasn't disabled, because it's very Bizarre. Also why does it have a dog on the front?
Although you must question the validity of saying the only problem with laughing at the picture is because the person is disabled, just because the discrimination is "positive" (for lack of a better word) does not change what it is.

im not trying to be PC...my brother has down syndrome and as such i know a lot of people with downs, and one thing i detest is people mocking such people..its not PC, its a question of why mock people that cant help being the way they are and are totally defensless, and are totally unaware this happens about them.

Would I laugh at people stood between two trees in a podium? YES!! Do I look at people with a disability and think it's funny they are disabled? NO! No one in this thread has said or even hinted at that.
I'm sorry that your brother has downs, but it doesn't mean you can act a prat when people are going along their merry business, I severely doubt that anyone in the thread sat there and thought "OMGZ DOWNZ HAHA" if anyone did then really thats their issue, who are you to judge us?
Could you give me a list of subjects that are not suitable for jokes? Death, religion, sexuality, race, nationality, hair colour, gender? Or is it just disabled people?
The pic would be just as funny if it was a healthy person standing behind it so it's not about mocking a person with downs syndrome.
I know your sensitive about the issue because of your brother but didn't you think that perhaps some people didn't even notice she had downs and were simply laughing at the situation?

Sorry, but the humour of the photo has nothing to do with whether or not the person in the photo is disabled. I'm sorry about your brother, but this isn't the place to vent your angst.
The photo doesn't look staged. It looks accidental. They've probably put the placard against the trees to hold it up, not realising how daft it makes the image look.

Nope, you're getting singled out because you've read way too much into what you think other people might be thinking.
I saw the picture and thought it was funny because it's a human standing between two trees at a podium. Until you mentioned it, it didn't even cross my mind that the person may be disabled. It's not until you posted that the subject of it being someone who suffers with Downs Syndrome was even mentioned, or thought of.
It's got nothing to do with whether the person has Downs syndrome or not! I think you're completely overreacting in order to stand on your soap box.

Yeah real ******* funny taking the **** out of people with down's syndrome. You're so ******* clever. Man, people like you need to be shot and put out of there misery. My sister happens to have Down's and I for one certainly don't find it amusing even in the slightest.

I didn't even look to see if the person had a disability. Now someone has posted that they clearly seem to know she is disabled, then suddenly it's horrific and uncool.
