Basically i bought my private reggie from regtransfers and its still up for sale on newreg, even though when i phoned newreg 4 weeks ago they said, sorry its been sold, why have they kept it up on their website even though it sold over 4 weeks ago? and they have even decreased the price? wtf? the reggie is registered with the dvla on my dads car and has been for over a month now

i think all these people work off a database or something, which doesnt seem to get updated at all, should i email them requesting they take my number plate off? or should i just leave it or is there a chance someone else could try and buy it from them then claim they bought it?

and if you look at this

http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/main/highfliers.asp#heavyweights

Singh and Mr Singh are both in there as the most expensive plates in the UK

Singh is the middle name given to all sikh men, being sikh myself i find that rather impressive, just goes to show you even though such a small minority within the whole world have 2 of the most expensive plates in the UK

Is this you trying to claim you bought "Singh" numberplate or is that just an aside?

Sikhs are hardly a minority. It's not exactly surprising that one of the most common names in that religion is going to try and buy the plate when they make up ~32% of the population of London. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=956

no i never bought singh, i just mentioned those reggies in my post because it was sort of related

as for your other statement 62 % live in london or the west midlands? that just goes to show you how much of a small population it is when all minorities put together only make up 6% of england, therefore sikhs make up less than 0.5% of the UK population

i would hazard a guess at maybe even less than 0.01% of the Uk population is sikh

1 and 5 are the most expensive on that chart (7.25 and 3.5 million respectively) the 5ingh coming up with a lowly 250k

I've noticed a couple of old timers driving round in Rovers with 2 and 3 character plates on around town, makes me wonder who they are or what it's about. Plate must be 10 times the value of the car at least.

On retention probably.

What's the betting Goldman or Glaxo own GS1.

Worldwide, there are 25,800,000 (25.8 million) Sikhs, but around 75% of Sikhs live in the Indian state of Punjab, where they are close to 59.9% of the population. Large communities of Sikhs live in the neighboring states, and large communities of Sikhs can be found across India. However, Sikhs are only about 2% of the Indian population. Migration beginning from the 19th century led to the creation of significant communities in Canada (Brampton & Malton, Ontario; Surrey, British Columbia), the United Kingdom, the Middle East, East Africa, Southeast Asia and more recently, the United States, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Smaller populations of Sikhs are found in Mauritius, Pakistan, Nepal, Fiji and other countries.

Fairly useless statistics from wiki but it turns out you were more correct than I thought - Sikhs make up 11% of the non-Christian population of the UK or 0.6% of the total population.

what do you mean by useless

only 25 million worldwide and only 6 million live outside punjab

that 6 million is scattered throughout the whole world

so therefore it is a very small minority and yet they have 2 of the most expensive plates in the UK - i just thought that was a very high achievement

and for all you know GS 1 - could belong to Gurdeep Singh

I never got the idea behind custom plates. I mean why?

Whats the concept behind having one? I can see why you'd want different types, black and white ones and whatever but I don't understand why a personal plate?
