Tis one of the things ive always wondered.... even if science is applied with the big bang theory, then what created that very molecule that started it......

Makes one wonder if there isnt a higher being really.

I thought this too, however if god is perfect, then why did he/she/it bother to disturb the equilibrium and create the big bang and life?

If God was perfect, then there was no point in making life because there is no need. He didn't get bored one day and just create everything, which basically leads me to believe he didn't do it.

i believe :)

I belive in people. The things we have achieved have been staggering (both positive and negative) yet time and again we have been held back by religion. Can we just not believe in ourselves?

how do you think religion is holding people back?

I get a little annoyed when the religious types think they have a monopoly on morality and decency.

but they dont believe that. it might seem that way, but its not true. i know loads of people that you could call a "better person" than some christians i know

surely that would make you wonder if there is a higher being?

You cannot believe in 'a nothing'. Your accusations are typical of the denials of the religious types (wether you are one or not). You cannot impose a religious structure on those that, by definition, do not believe. :)

You certainly can believe in a nothing. Any time you claim to know the status of the god hypothesis you do just that, because it's untestable using the normal investigative approach favoured (the scientific method) so any attempt to make a statement, positive or negative, can only be based on faith. Where that faith is placed is not relevant.

Hi. Another random thread by me as im curious of the outcome. I was just wondering if we could put this into a poll.

Yes
No
Used to but not now
Used to be atheist but believe in a God now

Yes! I intend to start a thread proving it. It is so obvious - where did the perfectly formed universe continuously expanding come from?

An unimaginably powerful creator of course!

No one says a computer has no maker so why do people suggest that of the universe?!!!!

Search for the big crunch theory.

A fairly reputable and leading physicists that I heard speak, when asked about what came before the big bang, replied "perhaps that's where God came in".

And how exactly did you come to that conclusion, I'm curious because I don't have a better idea myself really ;).

He has more power than your god (in these forums at least)

That's completely uncomparable, due to the fact that there is LOTS of irrefutable evidence that the computer has a maker, rather than just blatant speculation.
