You saw someone reverse and hit your electric wing mirror... approached them (without your car keys) and kindly point out what they have done + ask for contact details should the car be damaged.

Everything turned out ok and you didnt need to contact that person.

Few days later - your fog lights had been kicked in.

All the above done in a private car park where they shouldn't be parking anyways. So - what would you do (and clamping isn't an option - no clamp company 'works' that car park).

depends if you knew the person who hit your car the first time? did you get a reg?

it does seem a bit suspicious but i suppose you have details don't you?

what type of person was it? if they're an OAP it's unlikely to be them... but if they're teenagers...

Yeah seemed a bit scally - I asked what flat (parking is for flat residence only) and he said a number that was way too high, so I went "er, so you're not even meant to be parking here?" to which he replied 'er, well, no parking spaces on main street innit'.

My problem is I don't want to sht on my own door step - if something should happen to his car, I'm sure something else will happen to mine :S

Is your car worth much? I mean if you did something to their car, you might just find yours on fire the next morning?
They obviously have no worry about doing damage to your car :(
paint strippers quite good for these situations, insurance wont often cover that as a claim :)

theres a similar situtaion that happens at these flats next to my uni, they basically kept on complaining to the council or what not about non residents taking all their spaces due to parking costing a fortune in the city centre and they put up these barriers where you need a special key to park in the spot, each flat got 1 key only with no spares allowed

A) You can't prove it was him, B) you could cause a shed load of hassle for yourself.

If it were me I'd forget about it and hope that is the end of it.

What makes you think it was him? What motivation would he have?
my car has been parked there for 18 months and nothing. I have a word with him about his inability to park without hitting my car, and within a few hours my fogs are inside my bumper.

Crazy coincidence?

Did you ask him for details, or did you go off on one?

Either way, you have 0 proof, so I dont really see what you can do.

Just asked him where he lived - pretty calmly; only tiny confrontation was when he said he didnt hit the car, but i just said "yeah, but you did" and there was no come back to that and tbh he seemed pretty calm.

It was 3 days later (after F1 GP); don't know why i typed hours!

theres no proof it was him - so nothing can really be done - unless theres some sort of security for your car that would prevent such things in future - or cctv in the car park?

best thing would be to complain about the cars parking there and see if the council can do something about it

I wouldn't do anything re the fog lights because you don't have any evidence.

Is there anything simple that can be done to make sure only permit holders can use the car park, e.g. contact the car park owners and organise a permit scheme? You could offer to create the permit yourself if you have any Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop skills.

Rgds

Personally I can't comprehend why someone would come back to your car 3 days later and kick in your fogs just to spite you.

But I am incredibly lazy and not really one for revenge :p

live and learn what exactly? that some people are scumbags and you should let them get away with hitting your car?

in this day and age yes... let the criminals get away with everything and then the crime rate "goes down"... oops.

to the op, absolutely no proof he did it really... cant you get some CCTV setup? if you then see him turn up and do stuff to your car DO something then, and i dont mean call the police because they will arrest you for having CCTV without signs up etc, and not the "real" criminal. Let his tyres down (dont slash them, that is criminal...) id also move your car to another street untill this calms down.

It sucks. I have had similar things happen before due to me be confrontational when it comes to the scumbags around here. I had a drunk come across the road and attempt to glass me for telling a group of them to stop having a chav fight in the middle of the road while leaving their car in the middle of it on a blind bend lol. He ended up eating tarmac :) but as a result the other half's car got smacked in a few days later.

Another confrontation ended up with my previous scoob getting a huge scratch across the boot where someone picked up the biggest stone in the drive that they could find and ran it across the back. Sadly I won't learn and still bark at the scumbags when they are doing something stupid. All the other neighbours are too scared to say anything and I can see why tbh, but I am twice their size and have a bad temper so heyho I guess.
