Think I annoyed my neighbour

Rubbish, at 10 pm it's still light outside ( at this time of year) and thus a perfect time to work on anything, how people can go to sleep when it's still light outside is beyond me...

Some people have to wake up early to go to work etc.I have 3 neighbours above,To the side and diagonally who love a drink.Last night one got home started singing slaming doors are they all deaf and cant hear there tv i can:mad: this was 1am.

Two bangs for a hammer is hardly the end of the world. Get over it. If he carried on for a few minutes its completely different. 2 bangs of a hammer is going to cause less annoyance than a car driving past.

However when you compare to the neighbours I have, where at midnight last night the 17 year old was blasting music out and sat revving his car deliberately to annoy people it is a different level.
Oh and the guy who spent 30 minutes solid trying to start a lawnmower was really taking the urine.

Exactly, Jesus Christ, 2 bangs for ffs, I never knew there was so many anal people in the world.

Doesn't really matter at that time of night. "Doing some work on the car" is annoying at best and with children in bed the woman was probably trying to relax, then after some hammering she decided to complain (and quite right too!). The thread starter should realise it also doesn't matter if he's working shifts when it comes to work like that, take the day off and work in the morning.

ROFL Akira throwing all the stereotypes out atm!

To be honest it wasn't after 11pm so IMO she didn't have any right to complain.
If someone works all day, and the only time they could get to do some essential work on their car was a bit later in the evening, then they have every right to do so. Just because YOU have got children and they MIGHT be in bed, doesn't mean that everybody elses lives stop.

Now if it had been excessive noise, and/or after 11PM then it would be a different story. However, it wasn't. Some of you sound like right mardy people, i'd hate to have you as a neighbours.

This thread pretty much sums up why i browse considerably less on OcUK forums than I used to. I feel sorry for SpeedFreak.

It seems impossible to make a thread about anything nowadays without at least one person riding in on their high horse (no names mentioned ;) ) talking big and trying to make themselves look better in front of everyone else. You know who you are and here's a newsflash for you: NOBODY CARES! Who are you trying to impress? Do you think Spie is watching and will suddenly enter the thread to congratulate you on your fine trolling? I don't think so!

OK maybe SpeedFreak was at least a tad bit inconsiderate, but christ do some people on these forums lose their perspective on things or what?

2 bangs of a hammer and its all over and you're getting all uppety about being a "considerate neighbour" ? He wasn't exactly jackhammering his drive, I mean seriously, 2 soft bangs? Driving past his neighbour's house over a manhole cover would've made more noise.

Some people here really need to get over themselves :/

No it was 2 bangs then she came out, did she know it was just going to be 2 bangs? Could she possibly have thought that this work could have gone on for a lot longer, with more bangs?

And how hard would it have been to appologise politely and explain you where finished with the noisy stuff.

Also I hope the irony of your high horse statement eventually dawns on you.

if it was me, i *** have turned my sound system on with the bass while i worked as its better to work with music in the background lol....will teach her to moan...basically, from what it seems, she isnt getting enough and is frustrated that she has to go to sleep instead...

And good luck with getting the confiscated sound system back from the council.

lol touché :D

Ok fine but who on earth reacts that quickly to 2 bangs?

That's true but if I was a neighbour who was complaining about noise I'd refrain from having an attitude as it does nobody any good. Its a 2-way thing and from what SpeedFreak said in the OP, she was being all moody and shouting out her window. If somebody gave me attitude for something so minor I'd give it back, as most humans would in my opinion. I mean I at least would've asked if the noise was going to last any longer before shouting in a huff.

Did she come out, or shout from her window like an idiot?

Maybe it would have been a less hostile situation had she come out of her house, and asked politely if he could keep the noise down.

There are ways and means of dealing with a situation like that, and she handled it badly.

i had one of these in leicester. my car got broken into one saturday night, so i got the windscreen guys to come and fix the car, they arrived at around lunchtime - 12 ish. he started working on the car as you do and one of the jobs is to hoover the glass from the car so it can be driven.

he started to do this and in much the same way as the op, this woman 2 doors down opened her window and told us we'd wake her kids up if we carried on. i apologised, explained it would only take a minute - so we could at least make it safe to drive - and carried on.

next thing, her bloke comes storming out, top off, swearing and threatening to kick my head in, the windscreen guy's, smash my car up and do various other unpleasant things to us. he would take no reasoning, and only gave us more abuse when i tried to explain that driving a car with an arse full of glass is not the safest thing in the world. if he hadn't looked like a the borstal boy doll on the back of viz, with teardrop tatoos on his face and similar other attractive body "art" we would have carried on.

as it was, the windscreen guy was astounded and said it was the first time anything like that had ever happened, and i had to drive to the garage, with a car full of glass - it was everywhere - and hoover it out. i moved from leicester soon after.

I think the OP needs an ASBO for this :)

but seriously, I don't think that the fact is was "only two bangs" is irrelevant. It is the time which he is doing it at. I have a two month old boy who can be difficult to get to sleep. I can understand (to some extent) his neighbour for being annoyed, if someone started banging a hammer at 10 pm and woke my son up when he had just gone down I would have been cross. This does not, however, condone the actions of the neighbour: a polite request to stop would be what is needed: far too many people (as can be seen from this thread) resort to being alpha at the drop of a hat.

Look at the nin0abadga's experience - again it is annoying for his neighbours and even after he had apologised he is threatened with violence. I would add that IMHO this situation is somewhat different to the OP as he had been broken into and did not do this by choice.

this moaning lady is famous! i bet she be well pleased she has a whole 115 posts all about her 30sec rant! id be honoured if it were me

Just one bang of a hammer may be enough to wake sleeping children who have done nothing to deserve that kind of disturbance and are hardly able to complain themselves.

The OP was terribly inconsiderate of his neighbours children and should have realised that just because its light outside doesn't mean its ok to go around disturbing people.

What kind of a person thinks its OK to wake kiddies up by banging a hammer outside at 10 o'clock at night!?!?!?!?

Its not about her, its about her kids - and the OP is damn inconsiderate.

In answer to the OP - car mechanics at 10pm is taking the mickey, I'd have had the right hump if you'd been banging around near my house as well.
