Portal - still worth getting?

I'd strongly suggest you play through the whole game first, after that if you still think it's boring then fair enough.

My friend came around the other day and got through 10 levels in half an hour it's not until end levels and the story after that where the game really picks up.

Agree , i raced through the first 12 levels.

After that it get far harder and a lot more enjoyable.

Highly original and well thought out.

+1 Portal

Portal was the best game I have played in a long time. Even if it only lasted 4 hours. The ending was the most gripping piece of gameplay since I don't know when. Completely unexpected.

Yes yes yes yes and more yes. Finally found all the robot turret sounds as well which means...........RIGNTONES!!! :p I know, very nerdy.

Hehe, been there, done that with the Unreal Tournament "Headshot" sound. Currently mine is "Incoming" + airstrike sound from Worms.

Geek Pride!!

Meanwhile, back on topic, Portal is a great game, I couldn't stop playing it when I first got it, however it didnt have much replay appeal when up against TF2 in the same package. Now there are a few map packs floating around I might get back into it, if I ever have the time!

PK!

Defo! :D

Its different, fun, quirky, quite hard, funny and done well :)

Sadly tho, its a bit short! But there are external levels you can do after you complete the game based part! (Actually you can download even more levels too :))

It's one of the best games i've played in years, so i'd definitely recommend it.
The early levels are a bit samey, but teach you some of the tricks you need later on, but it isn't until you get the full gun that you can really have fun.
One of my favourite tricks it to set up a pair of portals, one above (at first), then one below turrets, if you get it right they can end up falling for a long time

I managed to pick up the Orange Box (retail) a couple of months back for £16 (I think), and it was one of the best buys i've made in a long time in regards to gaming :)

After all the reviews, the +1 comments on here, after the fact theres another one in the making you post this... dude why not ask 'Air - Worth breathing?' cos the answer will be the same!

I've only played the limited version of Portal that comes with the GEForce demo (first slice), but I have to say although simple in form, it's one of the most innovative games to utilise the first person shooter perspective i've seen in quite some time.

Due to haveing played approx a 1/3 of the game on the demo (from what people say) I'm going to wait till I come across a cheap copy of the full game before I pick it up :)
