Mole Removal

I was told by my doctor that the NHS would only cut them off, leaving a huge scar. I have a big one on my shoulder and am going to get it lasered sometime this summer.

Go see your GP, i'm having Two removed this month on my G.P's Minor Surgery list. You go in, inject your skin, cut an eye shape around the mole, sow it up, takes around 10mins. You scare will be purple at first but over time it will disappear.

Jobs a Good-Un.

romperstomper, Your moles should'nt bleed. go see your doctor!

I've got about 3 moles which can get a tad annoying, one on my neck and two on my back. I might think about getting them removed.

I've always been worried its going to hurt like hell if I do get them removed (yeah i'm a big pansy)

I was at the gps and he noticed a mole on my back and chest. he was like ' yeah its really easy, really quick procedure, shouldn't leave any scar at all' WRONG. He left a scar I transferred myself to another doctor. If you are going to get it done spend a lot of money and go to a decent surgeon.

I am booked to go under the knife on Friday the 13th (EEEK!) to have 2 moles removed from my lower chin.

It's for cosmetic purposes really, but I claimed that it makes shaving harder (I have dark hair and shave like twice a week) so it's on the NHS. I am slightly worried with all the horror stories my mother keeps telling me, but the plastic surgeon seemed to know his stuff and said it's a simple procedure as above.

They are going to inject me to numb my chin, cut an ellipse around it and then sow it back up. It will scar, so I am going to go into hiding for a few years and grow a massive beard. One day I might emerge a freshly shaven, but scarred human again. :)

This will very much depend on the type of mole you have and exactly where it is. The method you would use to remove the mole will vary based on these 2 things. A lot of GPs will have a minor surgery list and may remove some (but probably not all types). Bare in mind that you may get a better cosmetic result from a plastic surgeon and they may have other techniques available to them than your GP.

Genuinely how much problem does it cause you? because most moles really don't need anything doing for them. Don't go telling your GP you're gonna kill yourself about it if they won't refer you (unless you genuinely are) because they ain't stupid, and it really isn't likely to change anything. They either are, or aren't going to refer you.

I have one on my back. Are they dangerous? I've always been cautious of having my top off in the sun just in case.

They can be dangerous, they can be a form of skin cancer.

Just keep your eye on it, if it changes shape or colour go see your doctor, if not, Not much to worry about :)

They should be symmetrical and one colour. If you are at all worried go and see your GP. Reminds me I need to get one of mine looked at...

Hey all
So basically I have two medium sized moles on my face - one is between my eye and nose :( Has anyone here ever had any moles removed? How much does it cost and which type leaves the most minimal scar?

I had one done on my neck, go to your GP, they are allowed to do it under minor surgery, which is free on the NHS, local anasthetic, and it's gone, with couple of stitches in place. Was a case of the mole cut out, and then the GP cauterized the wound, to ensure stitches would hold properly, 4 days later stitches out. (this was at rear of neck)

HTH

Ha, I removed a few of mine about 5 years ago the old school way - with a blade from a pencil sharpener! Scabbed for longer than normal but the end result was sexy clear skin. Oh but one just came back with a vengeance, despite multiple treatments.

That cream linked at http://www.wartmoleremover.co.uk/frames_wart_mole/fhome_wart_mole.htm looks interesting, some of the before and after pics are impressive for a cream.

I'm getting several removed. 2 from my neck, 1 from my arm, and 1 from my back.

I hate them, and the only reason i'm getting them removed is because I find them to be dangerous. I'm always having to have them checked, because i know what they can turn into.

So if i remove them, Danger is gone

I've tried to convince my local GP to remove it already (I'm under 18), but they keep saying it'll leave a bigger scar. Which probably would be the case since they just cut it out. How do you get the NHS to laser it off?

I have a mole that I tried to have removed and was told the same thing. Its just below my hairline and is the same colour as my skin. Annoys the hell out of me at times but nobody else can see it unless I mention it.

Paranoid i guess

I got one just above my lip in the tash area.. It's not massively noticeable like big black ones are :) but I keep cutting it when shaving.. Should really be bothered to get it removed but feels like a waste of doc's time.

My doctor has made me an appointment at the local Hospital for an initial consultation for the removal of my mole which is on my face.

I asked my doctor when requesting the removal of my mole whether it would leave a scar. His reply was "well, it will look a lot better than it does now". He smiled but I did'nt.
